Primary school science is a comprehensive course and junior middle school biology is a subject curriculum.There are certain differences in the teaching objectives,curriculum design,teaching difficulties and other aspects between primary school science and junior middle school biology.However,both of them belong to the basic compulsory courses in the compulsory education.The knowledge of life science in primary school science provides the basic knowledge for junior students to learn biology.The knowledge in junior middle school biology has been regarded as an extension of primary school life science-related knowledge points.Considering a close association between these two courses,it is therefore significant for teachers and students to closely grasp the connecting elements and promote smooth connection between science teaching in primary school and biology teaching in junior middle school.Currently,the curriculum standards and textbooks of primary school science of version 2001 have been gradually replaced and renewed by that of version 2017.And these curriculum transitions bring challenges to the teaching connection between primary school science and junior middle school biology.In this thesis,the literature method,comparative method and questionnaire method are employed,to investigate the teaching connection between primary school science and junior middle school biology.First of all,by reviewing the literature related to the "connection between teaching" from domestic and abroad,the research status is summarized and the teaching connection between primary school science and junior middle school biology is progressoned in this study.In addition,the core concepts(i.e.,primary school science,junior middle school biology and teaching connection)and related theoretical basis are expounded,and the research ideas are introduced in this study.Then,the curriculum standards of primary school science and junior middle school biology are compared and analyzed in this study.The comparison result of primary school science between the version 2001 and 2017 are shown as follows: comparing with the2001 version,the 2017 version required students to improve their mastery and the application of knowledge contents,with new scientific,technological,social and environmental goals.The further comparison of curriculum standards between primary school science(including the version 2001 and 2017)and junior middle school biology are shown as follows: both courses emphasize to cultivate students' scientific literacy,but the primary school science highlights the cultivation of interests in science,while junior middle school biology pays more attention to the advance of students' knowledges and skills.Furthermore,by comparing the textbook contents of primary school science(the edition published by the Jiangsu Province Press)and junior middle school biology(the edition published by the People's Education Press),obvious differences of compiling style are observed in this study.More illustrations and activities closely linked with people's life are widely adopted in the primary school science textbooks,with lower knowledge goals for primary students.Contrastly,the textbooks of junior middle school biology are required to compiled more systemly along with knowledge hierarchy and linkages,which are more difficult for students to learn and grasp.Moreover,based on the comparison and assessment of the curriculum standards and textbook materials,the county of Yongtai,Fujian province,is chosen as a case study,with the aim to assess current situation of teaching connection between primary school science and junior middle school biology.The questionnaire respondents contain the science teachers in primary school,the biology teachers in junior middle school,as well as junior middle school students.According to the questionnaire of teachers,the pre-service majors of science teachers in primary schools were diversified,and there were few opportunities for teachers from primary and junior middle school to communicate with each other.In adittion,the questionnaire results among junior school students reflected that the difficluties to learn biology were enhanced for some students,the number of passive learning students increased,and the teaching method most often adopted by teachers were inconsistent with the method favored by students.Finally,the teaching connecting strategies between science teaching and biology teaching are recommended for teachers from primary school and junior middle school as follows: focusing on curriculum standards and textbook materials;paying more attention to knowledge linkages and hierarchy;selecting more suitable teaching method;improving the rationality of experimental processing method;helping students to develop accurate learning methods and good learning habits;training more specialized teachers with high professional skills;promoting communication among teachers in primary school and junior middle school.
