In recent years,in view of the lack of students' reading literacy and historical thinking in Taiwan,China,after learning from the experience of history education in Britain and the United States,has begun to try the teaching mode of "text reading" in high school history teaching."Text reading" refers to the teaching mode in which students read and explore texts under the guidance of a multi-text list and a list of questions provided by teachers,and discuss their ideas with teachers and students.The history teaching mode of "text reading" aims at training students' historical thinking and reading literacy,and emphasizes students' understanding of texts.This model requires students to form their own historical interpretation by exploring the source of the text,thinking about the background of the text in context,and comparing and analyzing the relationship between different texts.The design and implementation of the teaching mode of "text reading" can be roughly divided into the following steps: first,teachers need to select the topic of text reading and organize relevant literature on the topic.The selected topics should have the value of reading and inquiry,and the "importance","controversial" and "academic" of the selected topics should be considered.The literature review is helpful for designers to clarify their thinking and select important texts.Secondly,teachers combine the selected reading text and the written problem list into different reading plans according to students' learning conditions,so that students can read and explore.Finally,the teacher guides the students on the reading method of text exploration and reading,and guides the students to pay attention to the source of the text and think about it in combination with the writing background of the text.And through the comparison and analysis of different texts,carefully examine the relationship between different texts.After reading and thinking,students should be encouraged to discuss and communicate based on the information they have read.The teaching mode of "text reading" also has some problems in practice.The first is the lack of national identity education.The second is the difficulty in case design and the shortage of class hours in the implementation process,which makes it difficult to popularize it on a large scale.Although there are some problems in the teaching mode of "text reading",the rise of this teaching mode in Taiwan still has implications for our current history education.Second,middle school history teachers should pay attention to the study of history,strengthen the cooperation with university history researchers,and promote their own professional growth;Thirdly,the problem list can be used to guide students to conduct historical exploration in the teaching process.As a new teaching attempt in Taiwan,the mode of "text reading" focuses on the cultivation of students' historical thinking and reading literacy,which has certain reference significance for our current history education based on core literacy.
