During the last 70 years,China's urbanization has achieved remarkable accomplishments in terms of speed, scale and quality.Urban demolition project is an important part in the process of urbanization.Fierce contradictions and disputes occurred in many urban demolition projects, resulting in many social risks such as overtime, cost overrun and safety issues. With the continuous standardization and improvement of relevant regulations and policies, the game status of the major stakeholders in urban demolition projects have become more balanced, and the legitimate rights and interests of relocated residents are increasingly protected. However,in urban demolition projects, some interest-seeking behaviors of relocated residents are increasingly prominent, which exerts great risk on the implementation of projects. These interest-seeking behaviors are often unethical and contradict with the internal moral regulating mechanism of individuals. However, few studies have analyzed the interest-seeking behaviors of urban relocated residents from ethical perspective. This thesis focused on the psychological mechanism of the interest-seeking behavior of urban relocated residents. On the basis of reviewing relating literatures and theories, this thesis analyzed the mechanism of relocated residents' interest-seeking behavior, and discussed countermeasures from the perspective of moral disengagement. On the basis of collecting the interview data of the urban relocated residents through multiple channels such as media and Internet,semi-structured interviews were conducted with the residents and employees of the demolition units.According to the grounded theory, this thesis used Nvivo to conduct text analysis of interview data, which explored the factors and mechanism that affect unethical interest-seeking behavior of urban relocated residents, and built the theory model of it.what's more, this thesis reviewed a typical demolition case and discussed the logic of relocated residents' behavior in demolition, summarized the countermeasures of restraining the interestseeking behavior of residents. The research results showed that the interest-seeking behavior of urban relocated residents is mainly manifested as group behavior, tough confrontation and conflict creation, and the internal moral regulation system is broken through different moral disengagement mechanisms. The effects of moral disengagement mechanism are influenced by residents' personal characteristics and their perception of distributive justice, procedural justice and interactive justice.By optimizing the demolition procedure and promoting the formation of the community of interests of residents, the unethical interest-seeking behavior of residents can be effectively suppressed.
