Practical Research On After-school Homework In The Form Of Chemistry Quiz Of Junior High School "FM Forward"

We are required to be people-oriented and students' development-oriented in the "New Curriculum Standard".Through a questionnaire survey about "Current Situation of after-school Homework(Teacher Edition and Student Edition)",we know that the forms of traditional homework are relatively monotonous.Moreover,students are forced to complete mechanical homework.For teachers,after-school homework has been a way to consolidate new knowledge and make up for the low-efficiency of classroom teaching.The teachers even try to make the students understood through a large number of homework and exercises.The questions in the homework are often about knowledge reappear,theory explanation or discrimination,which are not based on the learning aims.The homework has become an ocean of exercises for students,which has been a heavy weight on students' shoulders.Therefore,students' learning ability cannot be improved because they didn't actively absorb and master the knowledge they learnt.To solve the above problems,this project proposes a chemistry test form-"FM(Full Marks)forward" for junior high school students(here in after "FM forward").Through questionnaire survey,individual interview,comparison of handwriting and variation of tests' results,we finally conclude that "FM rush forward" has improved the achievement of goals,aroused students' enthusiasm in learning chemistry,got students' burden down and enriched students' learning scenarios."FM forward" is an innovative form of homework,which requires students to complete their homework in 10 minutes in class.To be more efficient,students need to hand in the homework in class,correct it and give feedback on the same day."FM forward" has the following characteristics.First of all,this kind of innovative homework reflects the scientific nature of the topic(using Bloom's target taxonomy to classify the cognitive level of the topic).Second,the topic content is representative(questions which are related to key knowledge and typical exercises are mostly selected from the senior high school entrance examination,the first and the second test before the entrance examination).Besides,it has specific learning objectives(The learning objectives are easily operated and carefully designed by teachers who are based on curriculum standards and textbooks).Also,the topic is situationally set.(The questions we designed have something to do with our daily life,historical facts,news reports,pictures and interdisciplinary knowledge,etc)Moreover,the meaning of the questions are described normalized.(Questions made by ourselves won't apply to teaching until they pass the first review,second review,and third review of the team members).Sixth,the evaluation standards are hierarchical.(We made the evaluation standards according to students' tests' results and their performance).Last but not least,"FM Forward" has the dual functions of "diagnosis" and "development"."FM Forward" not only diagnoses the achievement of students' learning goals,but also constructs a cognitive system that are based on a core content through consolidating learning achievements and transferring appropriately.The students' learning morale are greatly stimulated because of the hierarchical homework.Meanwhile,it increases the fun of learning chemistry for students,and promotes the cultivation of the core literacy of chemistry discipline.After putting "FM Forward" into teaching practice,we find that the "FM Forward" form has the following achievements:1.Created a new diagnostic form-after-school homework can be completed in class within 10 minutesThe chemistry group used the new model which called doing everything in 10 minutes in class to teach the students of the first semester in Grade Nine.This new teaching model has significantly improved the interest and performance of students in learning.Hence,it has been actively promoted by the school.Schools in the Eastern District have also invited members of this research group to give lectures on how to implement this new mode of homework doing.Physics and Biology departments first carried out similar mode practice with remarkable results."FM Forward" has not only been applied in science,but arts has also used this model to improve and innovate.Therefore,this research enriches the mode of doing homework of students and improves teaching efficiency.2.Establish a mode of doing homework in the form of chemistry quizAfter the members of the research group conducted the "FM forward" teaching practice in different classes of different schools,they collected the opinions of the students who participated in the practice,and summarized the gains and losses in the practice process through discussion.Based on the principles of operability,simplicity and clarity,the research team has establish a new mode of doing homework which called "FM forward".3.Expanded the way to cultivate comprehensive ability in homework"FM Forward" can not only cultivate students' comprehension ability in specific situations but also cultivate students' problem-solving ability by connecting with the experience in social life.Besides,it cultivate students' ability in information processing by paying attention to the new information and recent trends in senior high school entrance examination.
