| The quality of schooling has aroused all sectors of society to pay attention to the quality of teachers and it is inevitable trend that teacher quality is going to "excellence" according the reform measures of teacher education in countries around the world.The evaluation of excellent geography teachers in middle school,as an important part of the link of high school geography teachers developing towards excellence,cannot be ignored.The improvement of geography teachers in middle schools is the key to continue to promote the reform of the geography curriculum of basic education in our country.The training plan for excellent teachers in our country has been implemented for more than 6 years,to which extent this project has been completed,what kind of effect has been achieved,and whether middle school geography teachers go to excellence are the realistic needs of the evaluation of excellent geography teachers in middle school.The study is an active exploration of the evaluation theory system of excellent geography teachers in middle school and it aims to provide direction for the growth of high-quality teachers in middle schools,to enhance teachers’ professional identity and satisfaction,and to promote the continuous improvement of geography teachers in middle schools.This study is divided into the following four parts: First,use the literature analysis method to summarize the research status of excellent teachers at home and abroad,the views and experiences of predecessors on the evaluation of excellent teachers,clarify the core concepts of the research and analyze the theories of teacher professional development and teacher evaluation at home and abroad.Secondly,use the literature research method to deeply grasp the foreign excellent teacher evaluation standards for reference,and analyze the relevant policies and texts of our country’s excellent teachers,taking the relevant content of the "Professional Certification Standards for Secondary Education(Level 3)" and "Professional Standards for Secondary School Teachers" as the basic framework reference to design the evaluation index system for excellent geography teacher in middle school.Then use the analytic hierarchy process to calculate the weight coefficients of the evaluation index system for excellent geography teacher in middle school,Establishing an evaluation model for the excellent geography teacher in middle school.Finally select four outstanding middle school geography teachers from key middle schools as the empirical research objects of this study to Carry out empirical research on the evaluation index system for excellent geography teacher in middle school to adjust the observation points of some indexes,and improve the evaluation index system of excellent geography teacher in middle school.Teachers Y,H,W,and D are all from key middle schools governed by directly under the province(Municipality).The curriculum reform,science and technology education,and arts and sports education of their schools have been rated as national or provincial(Municipality)model schools and advanced schools and the four middle schools are all selected into the top 100 middle schools in China rankings.The conclusions of the research on this paper are as followings:(1)Excellent geography teachers in middle school have two core characteristics:excellent geography education and teaching ability and highlighting the influence of teachers.First of all,excellent middle school geography teachers are highly competent teachers in middle school geography teaching positions.They can quickly respond to the actual needs of middle school geography teaching and carry out education activities in accordance with local conditions and aptitude.Secondly,excellent middle school geography teachers are teachers with strong teachers’ influence.With their conscious professional development and outstanding educational and teaching achievements,they have become role models leading the advancement of middle school geography teachers.They have made strong contributions to the construction of middle school geography disciplines and the training of teachers’ talents and leading the reform of basic geography education.(2)The evaluation index system for excellent geography teacher in middle school.The evaluation index system has 5 primary indicators,16 secondary indicators and 42 main observation points.The first-level indicators are Professional Attitude,Professional Knowledge,Teaching Ability,Professional Development and Professional Achievement;the second-level indicators are The Practice Of Teacher Ethics,Educational Feelings,Geographical Values,Subject Knowledge,Teaching Knowledge,Comprehensive Knowledge,Teaching Skills,Teaching Effectiveness,Activity Education,Class Guidance,Education Scientific research,International Perspective,Independent Learning,Personal Honor,Discipline Construction and Talent Training.42 observation points corresponding to 16 secondary indicators will not be repeated.(3)The weight and evaluation model of the evaluation index system for excellent geography teacher in middle school.The weight coefficients of 5 first-level indicators from high to low are Teaching Ability(0.3218),Professional Attitude(0.2548),Professional Knowledge(0.1886),Professional Development(0.1322)and Professional Achievement(0.1026);Among the 16 secondary index weight coefficients in order of importance,the most prominent are Activity Education(0.1042),The Practice Of Teacher Ethics(0.1037),and Teaching Effectiveness(0.1011),followed by Educational Feelings(0.0858),Teaching Knowledge(0.0697),Subject Knowledge(0.0673),Teaching Skills(0.0668),Geographical Values(0.0652);Personal Honor(0.0097)has the lowest weight coefficient,and the weight coefficients of the remaining 7 secondary indicators have little difference.The evaluation model contains four major components,namely value positioning,layered implementation strategy,weighted calculation and grade division of evaluation results.(4)Analyzing and processing of the results of empirical research on the evaluation index system for excellent geography teacher in middle school.The evaluation results of the four middle school geography teachers are concentrated in grades B and C.The excellent development of teachers Y and D is not balanced,and their performance in some indicators is slightly insufficient.Therefore,the evaluation result is grade C,which basically meets the evaluation standards of excellent geography teachers in middle school.Except for individual indicators,teachers H and W have excellent overall performance and a higher comprehensive score.The evaluation result is B grade,which is more in line with the development level of excellent geography teachers in middle school.The empirical research results of this study conform to the law of normal distribution,indicating that the evaluation index system for excellent geography teacher in middle school is scientific.In addition,the development level of high school geography teachers to excellence shows individual differences and stages,which shows that middle school geography teachers are going excellence requires grasping long-term characteristics and actively exploring development paths.(5)Adjustment and improvement of the evaluation index system for excellent geography teacher in middle school.This study found some observation points that were difficult to achieve evaluation and measurement and adjusted it according to the process of empirical research on the evaluation index system for excellent geography teacher in middle school,the observation point of "Teaching Effectiveness" evaluation index "Student physical and mental changes" was deleted.According to the integrity of the teaching process,"Skilled and efficient teaching evaluation and counseling skills" will be added as the observation point of the "Teaching Skills" evaluation index.(6)The development path of excellent geography teacher in middle school.This study proposes the development paths for middle school geography teachers to achieve excellence,including correcting professional attitudes and strengthening spiritual guidance,developing comprehensive education ability and broadening education channels,promoting platform construction and expanding international perspective,following closely with the development of middle school geography education and increasing teacher influence.
