With the advent of the era of picture reading,the promotion of the new curriculum reform,the construction of China's college entrance examination evaluation system,and the new publication of high school biology textbooks published by People's Education Press,picture reading ability is one of the key abilities that students should have to adapt to lifelong development and social needs.The purpose of this paper is to investigate the current situation of the cultivation of students' picture reading ability in senior high school biology teaching,and put forward practical strategies for the cultivation of students' picture reading ability.On the one hand,some senior high school biology teachers' understanding of students' picture reading ability is enhanced to optimize teaching practice;on the other hand,the research on the cultivation strategy of students' picture reading ability is deepened to promote the development of middle school biology teaching.The main methods used in this study are literature research,questionnaire survey,interview and practical research.Through consulting journals,papers and other literature,the concept of biological picture reading ability is redefined,and the problems existing in the current cultivation of biological picture reading ability are preliminarily understood.This paper investigates the students' understanding,attitude and personal tendency to textbook illustrations,image test questions and the training methods of teachers' ability to read pictures.Through the interview method to understand the problems of the school biology teachers in the ability of reading pictures.Combined with the results of literature research,investigation and interview,this paper puts forward the corresponding strategies for the cultivation of biological picture reading ability.The practical research method is used to verify the effectiveness of the strategy proposed in this study.Through reading a large number of relevant literature,this paper expounds the concept of biological picture reading ability from two aspects of short-term goal and long-term goal.Combined with literature review and practical investigation in a high school,it is found that there are four aspects in the current situation of the cultivation of biological picture reading ability that need to be improved.First,some students lack the awareness and good habit of reading pictures,so teachers need to strengthen the guidance.Second,some teachers pay more attention to the ability of reading biological pictures than to the cultivation of students' life concept and social responsibility.Third,the image resources used by some teachers to cultivate students' biological reading ability are not rich enough,and the ways to obtain resources are less understood.Fourthly,some teachers' methods to cultivate students' reading ability are traditional and single.In view of the problems presented in the survey results,I put forward three strategies for cultivating students' ability to read pictures in Senior High School Biology Teaching:(1)to enhance their sense of life and develop their awareness of reading pictures;(2)to connect in and out of class resources to create a lively classroom;(3)to take into account the short-term goals and improve their comprehensive quality.The data of practical research shows that the strategy of reading picture ability training does not have an immediate effect on the improvement of students' test scores,but it does have a certain help.In the practice interview,we learned that students are more interested in textbook illustrations than before,and gradually form the habit of observing and scientific thinking about the surrounding things in daily life.This can not only bring confidence to the front-line biology teachers for the cultivation of students' ability to read pictures,but also remind educators that the cultivation of students' ability to read pictures should be a gradual and long-term development process.The strategies proposed in this study can enhance the students' ability to take the exam and the core quality of biology;the strategies of selecting and using image resources in class,acquiring,collecting and sorting out image resources after class,and realizing the long-term and short-term goals all have their corresponding principles of use,and the established teaching cases can provide reference for teachers to enrich the classroom practical help.
