In 2014,the pilot program of the new college entrance examination reform was introduced, advocating the development of high school careers, rather than entering the university and carrying out career planning. The high school stage is a critical period for the development of personal life planning ability, and in the career planning of high school students, family factors play a pivotal role, and it is of great theoretical and practical significance to explore the mechanism of family factors on the career planning ability of high school students. As the core variable in family factors, parents' career expectations play a positive role in children's career planning and exploration, and the specific behaviors of parents in children's career(support, intervention, absence)and adolescent–parent career congruence are also particularly important. Therefore, parents' career expectations are selected as independent variables,career-specific parental behaviors(parental career support, parental career intervention, parental career absence)and adolescent–parent career congruence as intermediary variables to explore the relationship between parents' career expectations and career planning ability. In this study,1591 valid questionnaires were collected from 1632 high school students in seven middle schools in Chengdu,Nanchong and Dazhou, using the Parental Career Expectation Scale,Career-specific Parental Behaviors Scale,Adolescent–parent Career Congruence Scale and the Career Planning Ability Questionnaire. The results show that:(1)The career planning ability of senior high school students is at a medium level as a whole, the career expectation of parents is at a high level, the parental career support in the career-specific parental behaviors is at the upper middle level, the parental career intervention and parental career absence are at the lower middle level, and the adolescent–parent career congruence is at the upper middle level.(2)Different demographic variables will affect high school students' parents' career expectations,career-specific parental behaviors, adolescent–parent career congruence and career planning ability.(3)High school students' parents' career expectations,career-specific parental behaviors, adolescent–parent career congruence and career planning ability will affect each other.(4)Parents' career expectations can significantly positively predict career planning ability, and indirectly through the separate intermediary role of parental career support and adolescent–parent career congruence of career-specific parental behaviors, and the chain intermediary role of parental career support and adolescent–parent career congruence.Parents' career expectations also positively predict career planning ability indirectly through the single mediating effect of adolescent–parent career congruence, the chain mediating effect of parental career absence and adolescent–parent career congruence of career-specific parental behaviors.(5)Career-specific parental behaviors(parental career support, parental career absence)and adolescent–parent career congruence play multiple mediating roles in the impact of parents' career expectations on career planning ability, and the mediating role is significant.
