A Study On The Media Contact And Use Behavior Of The Elderly From The Perspective Of Life Course Theor

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020,the issue of "health code usage for the elderly" has been exposed to the public.It is generally believed that physical health,psychological willingness and social atmosphere are the main reason.In order to understand the reason of intelligent media use of the elderly,we must first examine the path and logic of traditional media use of the elderly.Therefore,this paper hopes to take the life course theory as the theoretical framework to investigate different media use trajectories of the elderly in different spatio-temporal environments from the perspectives of different spatio-temporal factors and different main factors,so as to further analyze the reasons affecting the use of intelligent media by the elderly.This paper adopted the research method of combining questionnaire survey and in-depth interview,distributed questionnaires online and offline,and conducted in-depth interviews with more than ten elderly people in Harbin.It is found that the media contact and use of the elderly are influenced not only by their time,social situation and life time,but also by their relatives,peer groups,social institutions and their own initiative.Therefore,when viewing the media use of the elderly,we should break through the one-way degree of technological determinism and situational determinism,and understand the media contact and use of the elderly from various aspects.It is not only a rational choice,but also the result of emotion.It needs to be guided in action,but also need to change the prejudice in thinking.In addition,we should also see what they really need.Therefore,through the use of media by the elderly,we should help them actively participate in society and express their emotional demands,so as to help them achieve a better life.
