With the advent of the new media era, people's reading methods, media, content and other aspects have undergone tremendous changes. From ordinary paper information resources to digital resources, fragmented reading has been welcomed by more and more readers for its features of rich content, diversified carriers, diversified forms and flexible media.Especially for college students who pursue new things, fragmented reading is an integral part of their lives. The paper explores the influencing factors of college students' fragmented reading behavior in the era of new media,in order to understand the characteristics and reading needs of their fragmented reading behavior and provide a theoretical basis for improving the reading quality of college students. Therefore, the paper is divided into the following three parts. The first part summarizes the research status of fragmented reading behavior at home and abroad, defines the concept of fragmented reading, expounds the relevant theories and analyzes the characteristics of fragmented reading in the new media era.The second part designs an interview outline based on relevant research, and conducts semi-structured interviews with 18 college students from different regions.Based on grounded theory and related theories, the paper summarizes five factors that influence college students' fragmented reading behavior in the new media era, namely, space factor, time factor, media factor, content factor and psychological factor, constructs a theoretical model, and analyzes the behavior characteristics of each factor. The third part uses the questionnaire survey method to conduct empirical research on the research hypothesis. The results of statistical analysis are consistent with the research hypothesis, and the influencing factors and behavior characteristics are supplemented and summarized. At last, based on the analysis results, combined with the characteristics and demands of contemporary college students' fragmented reading, the paper puts forward optimization strategies from the social environment, college education and college students' personal three levels.
