Geography research travel is a geographical practice course that combines research study and travel activities.It is an important way to cultivate students' comprehensive quality and core literacy of geography.Due to the lack of implementation opportunities,the shortage of curriculum resources and teachers,and the difficulty of organization,it is easy to "travel but not study" for research trips,and it is difficult to guarantee the effect of research travel.Therefore,based on the survey of the implementation status of high school geography research travel,this article puts forward the principles of geography research travel curriculum design: the research travel destinations and route should be typical,the study objectives and content determination and organization can develop the geography study,the study activities should contain comprehensive content and can develop the practice ability.In view of the current problems in the design and implementation of geography research travel and the design principles of the geography research travel curriculum proposed in this article,this research applies the STEAM concept to the design process of the geography research travel program,using the STEAM framework and project-based learning methods.Construct curriculum objectives,course content and research activities,etc.,to provide ideas for the design of research travel courses,and effectively promote the improvement of the teaching effect of research travel education.The determination of the curriculum goal starts from the high school geography curriculum standard requirements,the geography core literacy training requirements and destination research resources,and constructs specific goals from the perspectives of science,technology,engineering,art,and mathematics.On the basis of the course objectives,design corresponding project-based research activities,and provide corresponding course content and evaluation scales for the activities,including the evaluation scale of study group research results,the evaluation scale of students' individual research and the evaluation scale of teachers and courses.Based on the design principles,this research designed the Helan Mountain geography research travel course plan to show the application of STEAM concept.The program includes curriculum goals,itinerary planning,evaluation scale system,etc.The goals can improve the comprehensive literacy which not only according to the geographic core literacy but also including the STEAM.In conclusion,the study can help the geography teacher to design and practice geography research travel.
