Scientific inquiry is one of the key elements that constitute the core literacy of physics.Inquiry learning is also one of the important ways to improve the level of other physics core literacy of students.As an important auxiliary tool in physics classroom teaching,high school physics textbooks have a direct connection with the cultivation of students' scientific inquiry ability.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the content presentation of scientific inquiry in high school physics textbooks.This paper selects the columns related to scientific inquiry in the PEP,Cantonese,Luke,Textbook and Shanghai Science Compulsory High School Physics textbooks published in 2019 as the main research objects,and presents the columns and texts of scientific inquiry.The form,content type,activity method,open level,element embodiment and examination situation are comparatively studied.The research mainly consists of four parts.The first part is the theoretical basis.The main task is to organize the literature to understand the research status,determine the research methods and content,and clarify the concept of scientific inquiry and the theoretical basis of the research.The second part is to build a comparative framework.According to the requirements of the content analysis method,combined with the characteristics of the five textbooks,the comparative dimensions of scientific inquiry and the specific items contained in each dimension and their operational definitions are formulated.The third part is a comparative study.Through the established comparative framework,the presentation of scientific inquiry in various textbooks is compared from seven aspects,and the results are analyzed.The fourth part is a summary of the research results.The main findings are as follows:First,judging from the columns of scientific inquiry,the column settings of each edition of the textbook have their own characteristics,and the types of columns have a certain impact on all aspects of scientific inquiry.The textbook with the largest number of columns is the textbook of textbooks,with 47.In terms of column distribution,with the exception of the People's Education Edition and the Cantonese Education Edition,most of the columns of other textbooks are concentrated in the theme module of interaction and movement laws.Second,from the perspective of the text presentation form of scientific inquiry,each textbook uses a large number of tables,diagrams,and physical diagrams to assist the text to present the content of scientific inquiry,among which diagrams are the main ones.Third,from the perspective of the content selection of scientific inquiry,each textbook has many inquiry activities aimed at physics knowledge,but there are very few inquiry activities on STSE.Fourth,from the perspective of scientific inquiry activities,the largest proportion of textbooks are experimental activities,followed by communication activities.Except for the Cantonese version and the Shanghai version,the other versions of the textbooks have almost no investigation type.activity.Fifth,from the perspective of the level of openness of scientific inquiry,most of the textbooks for experimental inquiry activities provide relatively complete scientific inquiry steps,especially the Cantonese version textbooks basically give the main links.For non-experimental inquiry activities,the openness is relatively high,and some only give questions for students to explore on their own.Sixth,from the perspective of the elements of scientific inquiry,in the experimental inquiry activities,all the inquiry elements of the Luke version and the textbook version are involved,and the completeness of the inquiry elements is relatively high.There are few or no communication elements in the teaching materials of the People's Education Edition,the Cantonese Education Edition and the Shanghai Science Edition.In the non-experimental inquiry activities,the elements of inquiry in the teaching materials of the People's Education Edition,Luke Edition and Shanghai Science Edition are relatively complete.Seventh,from the perspective of the examination of scientific inquiry,each version of the textbook has a large number of exercises.Among them,the Luke version has the largest number of exercises and scientific inquiry exercises.The well-defined scientific inquiry exercises have tested students well.Scientific inquiry ability.The PEP and Shanghai Science Edition textbooks are also more reasonable in setting up different levels of scientific inquiry exercises.The Cantonese and Textbook textbooks focus on the ability of students to analyze and process data.
