Scientific exploration is not only the core of the reform in science courses, but also the future development direction of textbooks. How to embody the scientific exploration in the textbooks, which has been paid great attention in China, is also a crucial issue world-wide. Besides, In such a world-wide education reform movement, investigating the content of scientific exploration in the high school physics textbooks and the implementation of scientific exploration in the process of teaching are significant practically and theoretically. Therefore, the aim of the thesis is to give a comparative study on the scientific exploration between the Sino-US high school physics textbooks .Firstly, based on the process elements and different types of classification of the scientific exploration, the required part of the Sino-US high school physics textbooks, including"the general high school curriculum standard textbooks of China"and"Physics: Principles and Problems of America", has been studied. The comparative analysis of the number, the content and the methods of scientific exploration is performed to show the similarities and differences of the two sets materials. Secondly, from the view of teachers and students, the implementation of activities has been studied. Investigation exhibits that how the teachers and the students understand the activites of scientific exploration, and what are the main factors to hinder the teaching or learning of scientific exploration. Consequently, our investigation will not only provide some useful information for the effective exploration activities, but also contribute to the edition and revision of the content on the scientific exploration for the future textbooks.
