This study mainly compares two editions of the textbook that are the most popular in the biology class of high school in our country.They are the 2004 and 2019 editions of PEP biology textbooks.Comparisons are based on curriculum standards.The purpose of this article is to try to analyze changes in the new textbook for the 2019 edition,to help teachers become familiar with new textbooks faster,to complete the transition from old textbooks to new Textbooks,to grasp the direction of curriculum reform in China and implement core literacy requirements in the curriculum,to get good performance in the evaluation system of college entrance examination and to provide ideas for the future curriculum reform and textbook revision of biology in China.The major methods used in this study are literature analysis,comparative study and textbook analysis.Firstly,the basis for compiling the two editions is compared.Secondly,taking the section of “Homeostasis and Regulation” as an example,the old and new textbooks are compared.On the one hand,in the content selection of textbooks,the new and old textbooks are compared,and the similarities and differences are clearly listed in tabular form in terms of overall content framework,content selection in each section and student activity design.On the other hand,in other details,the old and new textbooks are compared,and the similarities and differences are listed in the form of tables and pictures in catalog design,illustration design and exercise setting.This study analyzes the changes and compiling ideas of new textbooks through comparing the results.The comparison suggests advantages in many aspects.Firstly,socialist core values are appropriately integrated into the textbook.The educational function of teaching materials is highlighted.Secondly,the new textbook focuses on big concepts and focuses on the cultivation of the core quality of the subject because the new textbook is based on the curriculum standards of the 17 th edition.Thirdly,the compilation of new textbooks is people-oriented.The new textbook focuses on developing students' core qualities and promoting students' all-round development.Fourthly,the new teaching material is conducive to teachers' teaching and students' learning because it has a more reasonable way of organizing and presenting.Some suggestions are put forward for teachers to make better use of the new textbook.Firstly,teachers should fully understand the connotation of biology big concept and biology discipline core literacy through careful study of curriculum standards and textbooks before teaching.Secondly,teachers should pay full attention to the role of various columns set up in the teaching materials because various columns are conducive to cultivating students' core literacy.Thirdly,teachers should pay attention to improving their own quality and set up the concept of lifelong learning.
