Since the promulgate of Chinese Curriculum Standards for Ordinary Senior High Schools(2017 edition),the whole book reading has appeared in the field of language with the first of 18 learning tasks.The whole book reading integrates listening,speaking,reading and writing organically,helping students develop good reading habits and promoting the development of thinking.Part of the edited textbooks set up the whole book of the novel reading unit,reading the whole book of the novel can enable students to explore the plot of the story in the process of reading,analyze the image of the characters,feel the meaning of the language,improve students’ Chinese core literacy.However,there are some problems in the teaching of modern novels as a whole book,such as one-sided teaching objectives,single arrangement of class type,stereotyped teacher evaluation,lack of students’ interest in reading,lack of reading methods and bad reading habits,which make the teaching of modern novels as a whole book not good.Therefore,how to effectively read the whole book of modern novels in the teaching of Chinese in senior high school,and how to deal with the teaching and learning of students in the reading of the whole book of modern novels is very worthy of in-depth thinking and exploration.The paper is mainly divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction,which introduces the research origin,research significance,literature review and research methods.The second part is the first chapter of the thesis,which mainly summarizes the reading teaching of the whole book of high school novels,including the definition of important concepts,the characteristics of reading teaching of the whole book of high school novels,the value of high school novel whole book reading teaching and the necessity of high school modern novel whole book reading teaching.The third part is based on the questionnaire survey and teacher interview,summarizes the current situation of reading teaching of modern novels in senior high school,and analyzes the existing problems.The fourth part,taking "Border Town" as an example,puts forward effective strategies for the implementation of modern novel whole-book reading teaching in senior high school from three aspects: preparation for whole-book reading teaching of modern novel,guidance in whole-book reading teaching of modern novel and evaluation of whole-book reading teaching of modern novel.Through the modern novel whole book reading teaching,help students to form multi-angle,multi-level thinking of reading consciousness,master a variety of reading methods,improve students’ reading ability.
