Reading teaching has always advocated the complete reading of works.Due to the limitation of classroom teaching time and space,the reading of the whole book can only be arranged in the extracurricular reading,as a means to expand students' reading.In the concept of "learning task group" proposed in the 2017 high school Chinese curriculum standards,the whole book reading is implemented into the practice of classroom teaching.As a new concept in the practice of reading teaching,there is still room for discussion on the effectiveness and teaching value of the whole book reading.And in the educational context where students' academic ability is measured by the examination system,there are many similarities between the reading of the whole book and the current evaluation standards of reading examination,which are worth further discussion.This paper adopts literature method,comparative method,statistical method,case analysis and other research methods,combines the core literacy concept in the new curriculum standards,the concept of learning task group,etc.,looks at the teaching status and teaching value of the whole book,and then further explores the implementation strategy of the whole book reading teaching by combining specific works.This paper mainly includes the following parts:The first part,the whole book reading concept and modern and contemporary novel selection situation analysis.Since modern times,the concept of whole book reading has been gradually introduced into Chinese reading teaching,which has become a new way of reading teaching.In the 2017 edition of high school Chinese curriculum standards,the whole book reading is implemented into teaching practice in the form of learning task groups.But the whole book reading belongs to a form of reading,but also needs to combine specific reading materials to become an organic whole.In this regard,the third section of this part analyzes the teaching value of implementing the whole book reading of modern and contemporary full-length novels according to the selected text statistics in Chinese textbooks and the cultural value of modern and contemporary full-length novels,and discusses some problems that may occur in the implementation process.Thesecond part,the necessity analysis of the whole book reading teaching.The necessity of whole book reading teaching is reflected in its unique teaching value,which is different from that of single article teaching.For teachers,the originality of reading the whole book can bring the innovation of reading teaching mode.Finally,combined with the current reform of the Chinese college entrance examination,the Chinese examination puts forward higher requirements on students' reading level,so the implementation of the whole book reading teaching can also realize the cultivation and improvement of students' reading test ability.These three aspects together constitute the necessity of the whole book reading teaching in the current educational context.The third part,the modern and contemporary novel whole book reading teaching case analysis.On the basis of the above research on the value of the whole book reading teaching of modern and contemporary full-length novels,this part analyzes the advantages and disadvantages,uniqueness and shortcomings of the design of the whole book reading teaching of modern and contemporary full-length novels by combining with the selected course cases of the whole book reading teaching of modern and contemporary full-length novels.Combined with the situation of five class cases,it is concluded that in the selected class cases,teachers tend to take the plot development of main characters as the key point of teaching,organize students to carry out discussion around the relevant plot content,and use the writing form as the reading teaching summary and feedback.These methods are conducive to the implementation of the whole book reading teaching and improve the students' reading ability for the complete work.But at the same time,the common shortcomings of the course examples are that they do not pay too much attention to the text style of the novel,do not pay too much attention to the students' learning situation,and do not integrate the course standards.The fourth part mainly discusses the strategies of the whole book reading teaching of modern and contemporary novels.Firstly,the thematic teaching method is taken as the main part of the whole book's reading teaching design,and the strategy design of the whole book's reading teaching is carried out around the way of thematic teaching.Then,taking ba jin's home as an example,the course design of the whole book reading teaching of modern and contemporary full-length novels is carried out.The readingteaching design of the whole book "home" is divided into four topics: first,extensive reading of the text,generally sorting out the main characters in the works of plot line development;The second is to sort out the problems in the process of reading and carry out the corresponding discussion.Then,on the basis of the students' understanding of the plot and content of the work,the plot lines of the main characters are connected in series,and the intersection of the plot lines is discussed.From the plot intersection,the thoughts and psychology of the characters are seen,which is summarized and the theme of the work is gradually extracted.At last,the students are guided to read intertextuality about "home",and seek information about the theme of the work from other relevant texts.Through the study of four special topics,it is expected to realize the students' understanding of the plots and themes of the works,and provide references for the teaching of other modern and contemporary full-length novels.
