| Migrant workers are the main force of urban construction and industrial development in our country.Promoting the urbanization of migrant workers in an orderly manner is the ultimate way to solve the predicament of migrant workers’ household registration status, and it is also an inevitable choice to achieve new urbanization and rural modernization. With the further development of urbanization, there are a large number of rural surplus laborers in my country who have migrated to cities to work.According to the data of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, the total number of migrant workers in the country in 2020 will be 285.6million,of which self-employed migrant workers account for more than 45%,taking the number of rural individuals as an example,it was about 22 million in 2008,and by2020,it will be 3.2 times that of 11 years ago,and the scale is growing.Under the realistic background that the institutional environment tends to be perfect, the ability of migrant workers to become a citizen has become a key factor affecting the process and realization of migrant workers’ citizenization.Based on this, this paper starts from the perspective of the employment form of migrant workers, and uses the national floating population in 2017.Dynamic Monitoring Data(CMDS),focusing on the following issues: First, what is the status quo of migrant workers’ citizenization ability in the overall distribution, employment distribution, and sample distribution characteristics? Second, the impact of self-employment decision-making on migrant workers’ citizenization ability What are the impacts, and whether there is heterogeneity;third, how to provide a practical and effective path for selfemployment migrant workers, especially subsistence self-employed migrant workers,to improve their urbanization capabilities. To explore the effect of the selfemployment mode on the urbanization ability of migrant workers, and then help to solve the problem of migrant workers leaving and staying in cities, accelerate the urbanization of migrant workers in a targeted manner, and realize the sincere wish of jointly building urban-rural integration and sharing a happy and beautiful life.Based on the above research purposes, the research finds: First, descriptive statistics show that self-employed migrant workers account for 51.09% of the overall migrant workers’ ability to become a citizen, among which the urbanization ability of opportunistic self-employed and subsistence self-employed migrant workers is about9.72%and 42.37% are concentrated in the wholesale and retail industries,as well as the accommodation and catering industries, and most of them are commercial service positions;secondly, the Probit regression model and Random Forest Model are used to empirically analyze the impact of self-employment behavior on migrant workers’ ability to become citizens, and use the The binary Logit regression model controls the self-selective bias of the sample to ensure the robustness of the sample data.Empirical evidence shows that self-employment behavior has a positive effect on migrant workers’ ability to become citizens, but there are large differences within selfemployment.Statistically significant;individual characteristics and mobility characteristics have a greater impact on the citizenization ability of self-employed migrant workers, while social capital has less impact.Based on theoretical support, realistic cognition and the research conclusions of this paper, this paper provides an effective path for self-employed migrant workers to improve their citizenization ability. |
