In order to meet the requirements of the development of the times for education and teaching and the way of thinking of talents, the newly revised general high school geography curriculum standards in 2017 put forward the task of teaching geography to cultivate students' core literacy,in which integrated thinking is not only the key to in-depth study of the field of geography, but also a key ability to be examined in the entrance examination questions under the new curriculum reform. The revision of textbooks that accompanies the curriculum reform has increased the content of images as an important vehicle for developing core literacy.Based on this, this study establishes a link between the types of images that appear in the new Lujiao version of the compulsory geography textbook and the three dimensions of integrative thinking, builds on the current state of teaching of images to foster integrative thinking, and proposes teaching strategies for the effective use of geography images in the classroom to foster integrative thinking. The research in this paper consists of the following aspects:Firstly, the research results on integrated thinking, geographical images and the cultivation of integrated thinking in geographical images at home and abroad are reviewed by means of literature analysis, the purpose and significance of this paper are clarified, the theoretical basis supporting this study is proposed and the concepts of geographical images and integrated thinking are defined.Secondly,we use the method of analytical induction to sort out the image system of the two compulsory geography teaching books of the new Lujiao edition, and summarise the connection between the seven types of geographic images appearing in the teaching materials and the three dimensions of cultivating integrated thinking by combining specific cases and the characteristics of images. In other words, there is a link between schematic maps and the development of integrated thinking;there is a link between statistical charts, landscape maps, schematic maps, contour maps and satellite remote sensing maps and the development of dynamic integrated thinking;there is a link between landscape maps, geographical cartoon images, contour maps and regional maps and the development of regional integrated thinking.Once again,on the basis of clarifying that there is a link between geographic images and the cultivation of integrated thinking,by processing the feedback results of student questionnaires and teacher interviews, four points of problems in the teaching of geographic images and the cultivation of integrated thinking by teachers and students were identified: students' purposeful use of images is not strong and their image skills need to be strengthened;students' level of integrated thinking is low and the dimensions need to be improved;teachers' awareness and lack of innovation in its cultivation;teachers' low mapping skills and pictorial teaching behaviours need to be improved. Finally,on the basis of the above research, with the help of constructivist teaching theory, left and right brain division of labour theory and Symbolic interaction theory, eight strategies are proposed for applying geography images to the cultivation of integrated thinking, namely, strengthening the awareness of image skills and integrated thinking through training, selecting images to lay the foundation for cultivating integrated thinking, summarising the cognitive rules of images to build a bridge to integrated thinking, supplementing image teaching with information technology to innovate the cultivation of integrated thinking, and making good use of the image teaching The school has also developed a number of strategies to enhance the development of integrative thinking, including the use of mind maps to strengthen the structure of integrative thinking, the use of board drawings to enhance the development of integrative thinking, the development of image resources to enrich students' image sources, and reflection on teaching to improve the development of integrative thinking.Around these eight strategies,a specific teaching case is designed to support the illustration of the Lujiao version of Compulsory 1,"Exploring the River Landforms of the Lancang-Mekong River Basin",so as to provide reference for front-line teachers to implement the teaching of geography images to cultivate integrated thinking.
