With the increasing emphasis on rule of law education in the country,teachers are encouraged to use case teaching to cultivate students' awareness and literacy of rule of law in both middle and high school Civics classes.How to design effective cases to cultivate secondary school students' awareness of the rule of law has become one of the dilemmas faced by secondary school Civics teachers.Based on this background,this study determines the content and method of the study: to construct an analytical framework of "case teaching for cultivating rule of law awareness",and to design an "interview outline" and a "classroom observation form" for a public class on rule of law according to the framework." The analysis of the public class on the theme of rule of law,we summarized the useful experiences and characteristics of the class cases and proposed corresponding countermeasures for the difficulties encountered by teachers.The study found that at present,secondary school Civics teachers have a high degree of recognition of legal case teaching,and not only can they explore the moral education value contained in legal cases,but also have formed three characteristic legal case teaching models in practice.However,this study also found that teachers have some difficulties in selecting,developing,studying and using legal cases due to some external conditions and the limitations of their own teaching ability.Therefore,the author proposes suggestions for better legal case teaching from five aspects: case development,legal training system,textbook arrangement,cultivation of teachers' rule of law literacy,and teaching design and implementation.The first chapter defines the domestic and international literature around the two subject terms of "case teaching" and "case teaching under rule of law education".Chapter 2 is the theoretical foundation,which introduces why case teaching should be used to cultivate students' awareness of the rule of law,and what are its theoretical basis and significance respectively.Chapter 3 summarizes the implementation process of case teaching,and constructs an analysis framework applicable to legal case teaching in secondary school Civics.Chapter 4 analyzes the interview results to explain the situation,dilemmas and causes of applying legal case teaching among teachers of different academic levels,different professional backgrounds and different teaching experience.Chapter 5 analyzes the excellent public class videos of Shanghai's Civics teachers and summarizes them according to the four aspects of "presenting cases-asking questions-analyzing and discussing-summarizing" Chapter 5 summarizes the characteristics and useful experiences of teachers' application of legal case teaching by analyzing the excellent videos of Shanghai Civics teachers.Chapter 6 summarizes the achievements,dilemmas and causes of teachers' case teaching pointing to the awareness of rule of law,and puts forward suggestions in four aspects: case development,lecture system,textbook materials and teachers' literacy.
