In 2016,the State Council issued the Opinions on Strengthening School Sports to Promote the Overall Development of Students' Physical and Mental Health,which set the focus of China's school sports work and the ultimate goal of China's education development as improving students' physical literacy.2017 saw the joint development of the Youth Sports Activities Promotion Plan by seven ministries and commissions,which set out the requirement for young people to master "one to In 2018,the introduction of the basketball programme "Youth Sport Skill Grading Standard" set out a system of "4 levels and 12 levels" of sport skills,with grading as a goal-oriented approach.The use of quantitative grade awards and certificates as motivation promotes the formation of a sense of goal-oriented competition,cultivates the habit of physical exercise among young people,enhances physical fitness and personality,and improves the quality of will,which is conducive to the formation of good physical literacy among students.This paper uses literature,questionnaires,interviews,logical analysis,mathematical and statistical methods,fieldwork and assessment to investigate the effects of the assessment of the Youth Basketball Grade Skill Standard on the physical literacy of primary school students.Questionnaires,physical fitness standards and basketball skills assessments were collected and analysed before and after the assessment of primary school students who had continuously participated in basketball training institutions in Xi'an at levels 1-3 of the Standards and those who had not.A comparative study was carried out to investigate the impact of the Youth Basketball Skills Assessment on the various dimensions of physical literacy by comparing the before and after differences in physical fitness levels,physical awareness,physical knowledge,physical skills,physical behaviour,Fitness Standards scores,basketball skills scores and other elements of physical literacy.Interviews with school teachers,implementers and assessors and visits to assessment sites were also conducted to understand the implementation of the assessment and students' physical literacy at this stage,and the following conclusions were drawn from the study.1.After comparing the physical fitness level,physical awareness,physical behaviour and basketball skills scores of primary school students in the assessment group,compared to those in the non-assessment group,there was an increase in physical fitness level,physical awareness,physical behaviour and basketball skills scores with a p-value of less than 0.05.There was an increase in the physical fitness level,self-evaluation of physical skills and knowledge of physical education,but the difference between the two groups was not significant with a p-value greater than0.05.2.After comparing the primary school students in the examination group before and after the assessment of the Standard,there was an improvement but not significant in the physical literacy within the group in the dimensions of physical knowledge and physical skills self-perception.However,there was an increase in physical fitness level,physical awareness,physical skills,physical behaviour,performance on the Physical Fitness Standard and basketball skills,and the p-values were all less than0.05.This proves that there was a significant increase in the above dimensions in the group after the Standard assessment,and that it had a positive effect on their physical literacy level.
