Throughout the modern history of China,historical education in the Republic of China is very significant,which plays a role of inheriting the past and initiating the future.Understanding the compilation of history textbooks in middle schools of the Republic of China,which can help us understand the perspectives and values of history education in the Republic of China from the side.After the war of the times and the decline of the country,Lv Simian,a historian and master of Chinese modern history,was determined to revive the country through education.He devoted himself to history teaching and research,and wrote a large number of historical works,history textbooks and teaching guidance books.However,the academic research on Lv Simian mainly focuses on Chinese historiography,neglecting his contribution to history textbooks.The existing results focus on the study and review of history textbooks for senior high schools,and lack of research on Lv Simian's compilation of history textbooks for junior high schools.As a result,on the basis of understanding the relevant research results,this paper explores the National History of Standard Textbook for Junior Middle School written by Lv Simian.First of all,we learn about the background of National History of Standard Textbook for Junior Middle School from two aspects: the development of secondary school history education in the Republican period,the motivation of Lv Simian and history textbooks.Secondly,through analyzing the structure and content of the textbook,we find that the textbook has three distinctive features: emphasis on the application of historical materials;write carefully and properly;pay attention to after-school practice.In addition,based on the analysis of the textbook's background,structure and content,the National History of Standard Textbook for Junior Middle School is full of patriotic spirit of the times,paying attention to absorbing new research results of history and cultivating students' interests and abilities,which are not available in textbooks of the same period.Of course,textbooks are limited by the times and inevitably have shortcomings,but not too demanding.The National History of Standard Textbook for Junior Middle School is still of great reference value to today's junior high school history teaching and textbook compilation,history teaching should pay attention to inspiring students' awareness of problems and takes notice of the comparison and connection of knowledge on the basis of connecting with reality.In a sense,the National History of Standard Textbook for Junior Middle School had begun to the element of "core literacy" at that time,which also inspired us to pay attention to further strengthen the cultivation of core literacy in the compilation of junior middle school history textbooks.
