In order to meet the requirements of the times,in the reform of the curriculum and teaching materials,the "Activity" column has been innovated to be closer to the real life and more in line with the cognitive level of students,aiming to cultivate students' geographic key competences,namely,the concept of human-earth coordination,integrated thinking,regional cognition and geographic practical power.Based on the theory of nearest development zone,activity teaching theory and anchor teaching theory,we adopt literature research method,questionnaire survey method,interview method,induction method and observation method to classify the "activity" column of the high school geography textbook of People's Education Press,and propose design principles and carry out design for different types of "activity" columns.The design principles are proposed and implemented for different types of "activity" column,the effectiveness of teaching implementation is verified,and finally,the experience of the implementation process is summarized and targeted suggestions are made.Based on the different levels of students' behavior and cognition,the "activities" column of the People's Education Press Geography textbook are divided into two categories:Cognitive activities and Operating activities.Through the analysis of students' questionnaires and teachers' interviews,we found that students' main position in the classroom needs to be improved,students prefer interesting and practical activities,and the development of the "activities" column is restricted by teaching conditions.In order to better play the role of the "activities" column and increase students' participation.For the "activities" column instructional design put forward nine principles of scientific,practical,life,discipline and comprehensive combination.On this basis,we applied the anchor teaching theory and the theory of nearest developmental zone to design the teaching for different types of "activity columns",and carried out two experimental teaching sessions.Two lessons with the same content and different designs were implemented in parallel classes with similar grades.We observed students' responses in class and analyzed the differences in their performance in the accompanying quizzes.We concluded that the proper use of the "Activity" column can improve students' cognition and ability in geography,and thus develop their key competences.Based on the experimental results,we suggest effective implementation.
