With the rapid development of the society, the demand for talents is also changing.People orientated quality education thus has received growing attention.STEAM education,a new educational paradigm for cultivating innovative talents, came into being.Innovation is the power source for a nation or even a country to maintain its vitality.STEAM education is mainly based on mathematics, and interprets the process of science and technology from the perspective of engineering and art.The main purpose is to cultivate innovative students to advance with the growing requirements in 21 th century. This paper mainly integrates the STEAM education concept into the chemistry subjects of senior high schools in remote minority areas, properly infiltrating ethnic characteristics, cultivating the interest in learning chemistry and national feelings, promoting the study of comprehensive skills and developments in the future career. This paper firstly clarifies the global concept of STEAM education including the development and current status.Characteristics of STEAM education and the basic principles that should be followed by retrieving relevant literature are portrayed and discussed.Under the guidance of constructivism theory,multi-intelligence theory and educational theory of "learning by doing",students and teachers were informed about the application of STEAM education concept in high school chemistry in minority areas through questionnaire survey and interview method. The results showed that the integration of STEAM education concept in teaching was not obvious in remote minority areas.Based on the STEAM education concept, the author organized the teaching design of the compulsory course of high school chemistry, and constructed the STEAM education implementation framework.Based on the teaching framework, two teaching cases were designed, namely "Sodium Carbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate" and "Properties of Chlorine Water" for teaching. The two cases were implemented in two parallel classes of sophomores in M National Middle School, combined with the new high school chemistry curriculum standards to conduct a diversified evaluation, and analyzed the effect of STEAM education implementation from the aspects of performance, innovation ability, and collaboration ability. Finally, through the student's performance and the evaluation of teachers and students, combined with the characteristics of the school, reasonable teaching suggestions are put forward,so that STEAM can be better implemented in remote minority areas,so as to improve students' interest in learning chemistry, and also cultivate students' interest in chemistry.Ability to think,do and innovate.Through case design and teaching implementation, the thesis draws the following conclusions: STEAM education can appropriately improve teaching quality, improve the learning attitude, innovation ability and cooperation ability.Insufficient teaching can be improved by optimizing the way that students learn chemistry, changing learning concepts of sophomores, allowing students to actively participate in learning, highlighting the dominant position of learner-centered teaching model, and helping students understand chemistry correctly and comprehensively. To sum up,STEAM education has certain feasibility and practicality in remote minority areas.
