The core accomplishment of biology is that students gradually build the biology-specific core accomplishment during learning for their individual development and social needs.Due to the long-term examination-oriented education in China,youths has been greatly affected and formed rigid thinking,so to generate biological thinking of students is in accord with needs of the current education renovation.Possessing scientific biological thinking can not only enable students to master the knowledge of biology and the laws of life,but also enable them to have the ability to deal with biological-related problems in life.In this study,students of Class 2 and Class 4 in Xinjiang Twelfth Middle School in Urumqi were selected to fill in a questionnaire survey.After understanding the current situation of investigated students,the strategy of developing their biological thinking was put forward based on teaching experiences of author and relevant references.This research was executed according to above teaching strategy,and the main results are as follows.The results of the questionnaire survey showed that biological thinking is deficient in part of investigated students,because 28.2% surveyed students could not utilize biological knowledge to solve the biological problems when they encountered them.Combined with the results of this survey,two chapters,"origination of modern biological evolution theory" and "regulation through nervous system",are selected from books of Biology using in high school(People's Education Edition),and needed teaching materials are reorganized and redesigned based on previous teaching experience of the author.After one-term teaching via two strategies to develop students' biological thinking,the students in class 4 have performed prominently in the later biological test.Not only their scores of the biology exam have been significantly increased,but also their biological thinking has been significantly improved.These results indicate that this teaching practice with the purpose of developing biological thinking is successful.Compared with the traditional teaching,this new teaching model has changed teaching ideas of author and has adjusted the teaching mode,resulting that students have achieved the expected improvement in establishing biological thinking.The teaching model used in this study provides other colleagues an effective reference for the following teaching reform.The problems appearing in above teaching practice and the deficiencies about teaching materials and equipments will offer a correct direction for improving the subsequent teaching design.
