| The intensification of global greenhouse gas emissions has become a major challenge in the process of human development, and climate change has become a real issue of common concern for people from all over the world. As a large developing country,China has always made environmental protection a top priority in its social development process.Since 2006,the concept of"energy conservation and emission reduction"has been included in the process of economic development for the first time, emphasizing the need to actively focus on and promote the development of a green economy while developing rapidly, and to take corresponding measures to reduce CO2emissions.The development of the transportation industry is a key link between economic activities in different provinces and regions, and the convenience of transportation directly increases energy consumption and carbon emissions, and also has a spillover effect between regions. With the gradual expansion and active development of China’s transportation industry,it is of practical significance to enhance the scope of emission reduction in terms of transportation accessibility to achieve the goal of"emission peak and carbon neutrality"in China. This thesis firstly introduces the background of the development of transportation accessibility and carbon dioxide emission, and compares the related studies on transportation accessibility, carbon dioxide emission and the impact of transportation accessibility on carbon emission, based on low-carbon economy, sustainable development, externality, spatial economics and new economic geography theory, and uses a combination of literature analysis and empirical analysis to analyze the research methods.A spatial econometric model and a mediating effects model are constructed using panel data of 30 Chinese provinces from 2008 to 2020 to analyze the influence and mechanism of the effect of transportation accessibility and CO2 emissions, while the spatial effects of the model are decomposed and regional heterogeneity is analyzed, and stability tests are conducted by replacing the spatial weight matrix and core explanatory variables.Furthermore, from the point of view of upgrading industrial structure, the indirect effects of industrial structure advanced and industrial structure rationalization are explored to elaborate the influence mechanism of transportation accessibility on carbon emissions.Based on the above empirical analysis, the research results show that carbon emissions have significant spatial effects. From a global perspective, transportation accessibility has a positive contribution to carbon emissions, but in the long run, carbon emissions grow at a decreasing rate, reflecting the effectiveness of emission reduction policies;from the perspective of effect decomposition, transportation accessibility drives both local and neighboring regions’carbon emission levels;from the perspective of regional heterogeneity, transportation accessibility in each province and region has a significant direct effect on carbon emissions, while From the perspective of regional heterogeneity, transportation accessibility has a significant direct effect on carbon emissions in each province, while the spatial spillover effect is more obvious in the central and eastern regions;from the perspective of industrial structure upgrading, the intermediary effect model is constructed, and the advanced and rationalized industrial structure is incorporated into the model, and the results show that transportation accessibility effectively promotes the upgrading of industrial structure and achieves emission reduction.Based on the results of the empirical analysis, this thesis proposes initiatives to achieve the emission reduction targets in terms of regional, structural, technological and management aspects in terms of transportation accessibility. The thesis also suggests how to analyze whether the facilitation of transportation is effective in achieving emission reductions from the perspective of industrial structure upgrading,so as to practice the green and low-carbon development strategy, speed up the construction of a resource-efficient and environment-friendly society, and make great efforts to reduce the emissions of"emission peak and carbon neutrality". |
