The transfer chute is an important part of the transfer system of the belt conveyor. The problems of material blocking, wear, dust overflow and impact damage in the actual engineering are mostly caused by the unreasonable chute structure. In view of the design problem of belt conveyer transfer chute,it is convenient and fast to design chute by using continuous model Method. However, for complex working conditions, the calculation results of continuous model deviate from the reality to some extent,so it is necessary to correct the calculation results of Discrete Element Method(DEM)simlation based on the simulation results. Therefore, studying the continuous model method and the DEM simulation method is a major significance to the design and calculation of the chute.Summing up the domestic and foreign design methods about the material discharge trajectory of the transfer system.Based on the continuous model theory,a complete mathematical model of the chute system was established, and the motion trajectory equation of the material falling from the feeding conveyor to the receiving conveyor to the guide chute in the transfer chute system was deduced.Establishing a complete calculation model of the chute system,it is necessary to complete the calculation of the continuous model theory by computer programming, and verify the validity of the continuous model theory by DEM simulation analysis. Therefore,Visual Basic.net programming language was used to develop the calculation software to solve the discharge trajectory equation of the transfer chute,Newton iterative method was used to solve the nonlinear equations of the discharge speed, and approximate iterative method was used to solve the motion time of the material colliding with the guide plate and the motion time of the material falling to the bottom of the chute. The discrete element software was used to simulate the flow of materials in the transfer system.Through the analysis of the impact force and velocity of the guide plate and the bottom chute, the rationality of the chute model structure is verified, and the effectiveness of the continuous model method is proved.By solving the displacement and velocity of the material movement in the process of transferring the chute from the continuous model method and the DEM simulation method, studied the influences of the parameters such as the tilt angle and velocity of the feeding conveyor on the unloading trajectory, and the differences between the results of the two calculation methods are compared. The results show that there is little difference between the two methods in the material flow position in the transfer chute, but the velocity calculated by the continuous model method is higher than that obtained by DEM simulation. It can be concluded that the continuous model method cannot be directly used in the prediction of material flow trajectory, and it needs to be modified based on DEM simulation analysis. In view of the difference between the two methods, the material velocity obtained by the continuous model method is corrected by adjusting the friction coefficient, and the velocity curve is drawn to make it close to the calculation result of DEM simulation method. The friction coefficient correction table under various working conditions is developed to narrow the gap between the two calculation methods due to improper parameter settings.
