Guide signs are an indispensable transportation facility to guide road users to arrive at destination quickly and safely.In terms of the selection of road network information and layout style,the design of urban road guide sign presents diversity,which is easy to cause ambiguity among road users and affect travel.A good design of guide sign style can provide the required road location for the road traveler quickly and accurately.The guide sign of continuous system can continuously provide the guide information for the traveler,reduce the hesitation time of the traveler to find his own target road on the road,and reduce traffic congestion.It is conducive to driving safety.At present,the research on the layout design of guide signs is mostly carried out around a single guide sign.The understanding and systematic research on the design style of two or more consecutive guide signs are rare.It is necessary to carry out the corresponding experimental research to obtain a design style of guide sign with good systematic effect,so that road users can correctly identify the road location in the shortest time.First of all,the road network of a certain area was selected in Wanbailin District of Taiyuan City,and the bidirectional road guide signs in the region were investigated.The road guide signs in the region were classified and processed.Nine groups of typical current road guide signs and two groups of improved road guide signs were obtained to prepare for the systematic understanding experiment of road guide signs.Secondly,students with professional background of transportation were selected to conduct an understanding experiment on 11 kinds of guide sign combinations,analyze the experimental results,and select the indicators of the evaluation model.Finally,the improved analytic hierarchy process model was used to evaluate 11 kinds of guide sign combinations,and the best systematic effect of guide sign combination was obtained.The evaluation results of the model were consistent with the results of the comprehension experiment,which verified the systematic effect of the improved guide sign combination.Through the understanding experiment and model evaluation,it could be seen that the M-type mentioned in this paper was that the current road information was located within the vertical layout arrow,and the left and right road information at the front intersection was located at the left and right positions of the horizontal layout arrow,respectively.The forward access information in each direction was located in the direction of the layout arrow,and was perpendicular to the direction of the arrow.The systematicness of the guide sign designed based on this was better than that of the current layout design of the guide sign.In addition,the driver was more likely to correctly identify the location of the road information,which could provide guidance for the traffic management design department.
