The digital economy is a new economic form that takes information and data resources as its core elements,and uses information network media networks such as the Internet as a means of dissemination to achieve the integration and application of digital technology,promoting a more unified fairness and efficiency.Although China’s high-end manufacturing industry has made significant progress since the reform and opening up,there are still many problems.For example,the development scale and production capacity of the resource and energy industries have already taken a leading position globally,but most of the core and high-end technologies have not been mastered by oneself.Due to the obvious gap in independent innovation capability,informatization degree and industrial structure level,the task of Digital transformation,upgrading and leapfrog development of high-end equipment manufacturing industry is urgent and arduous.Therefore,driven by the digital economy,vigorously promoting the high-quality and innovative development of high-end equipment manufacturing industry is not only an inevitable requirement for enhancing China’s core competitiveness,but also has significant strategic significance for accelerating the transformation of economic development mode and achieving the transformation from a manufacturing powerhouse to a powerful country.Firstly,this article summarizes the connotations and relevant theories of the digital economy and high-end equipment manufacturing industry,and defines the concepts of the digital economy and high-end equipment manufacturing industry.Then,this article constructs a comprehensive evaluation index system for the development level of the digital economy and the innovation development level of the high-end equipment manufacturing industry.The measurement index system for the development level of the digital economy includes five dimensions: digital facilities,digital innovation,digital industrialization,industrial digitization,and governance digitization.The measurement index system for the innovation development level of the high-end equipment manufacturing industry includes three dimensions: innovation research and development,innovation achievements,and innovation transformation.After constructing the indicator system,relevant data from 30 provinces and cities across China(excluding Tibet,Hong Kong,Macao,and Taiwan)from 2016 to 2020 were used as the research object.The entropy method was used to measure the results.It was found that whether it was the digital economy or the innovative development of high-end equipment manufacturing industry,the development level of the eastern coastal areas was higher than that of inland areas,presenting a spatial development pattern of "high in the east and low in the west".Secondly,this article conducts a spatial econometric analysis on the innovative development of high-end equipment manufacturing driven by the digital economy.The significant spatial correlation of innovative development in the high-end equipment manufacturing industry was verified using global Moran test and local Moran scatter plot.Thirty provinces and cities across the country were divided into three groups,namely the eastern region,central region,and western region.Research was conducted at the national and regional levels,and appropriate spatial econometric models were selected through a series of tests such as LM,LR,and Wald,and regression analysis was conducted.The empirical results indicate that from a national perspective,the improvement of the development level of the digital economy has a significant positive promoting effect on the innovative development of the high-end equipment manufacturing industry in this region,with digital innovation having the strongest positive promoting effect.For neighboring regions,there is a negative spillover effect on the improvement of the development level of digital facilities,and a positive spillover effect on the improvement of the development level of digital innovation;From a regional perspective,the digital economy has the strongest positive promotion effect on the innovation and development of high-end equipment manufacturing industry in the eastern region,and the weakest effect on the western region.Moreover,the eastern region has a significant driving effect on the surrounding areas due to its good innovation foundation,while the central and western regions are unable to have a diffusion effect on the surrounding areas due to limited innovation resources;From the perspective of innovative development,digital facilities and innovation have a stronger driving effect on the innovative research and development and innovation achievements of the high-end equipment manufacturing industry,while industrial digitization has a more significant driving effect on the innovation transformation stage.Once again,based on the results of spatial econometric analysis,this article summarizes the characteristics of innovative development in China’s high-end equipment manufacturing industry.It is believed that the high-end equipment manufacturing industry cannot engage in single innovation,mainly relying on cluster innovation,and has the characteristics of high investment,long cycle,complex technology,high risk,and high sunk cost.On this basis,four paths for the innovative development of high-end equipment manufacturing industry driven by the digital economy are summarized:(1)providing a dynamic information resource exchange platform;(2)Improving management and decision-making service models;(3)Enhance economic efficiency and squeeze out innovation space;(4)Optimize institutional management and create a good innovation environment.Finally,based on the above analysis results,starting from the development of the digital economy and various regional dimensions,specific strategies and suggestions are proposed for how the digital economy can better drive the innovative development of high-end equipment manufacturing industry.
