Research On Influencing Factors And Countermeasures Of Ethiopia’s Textile And Apparel Industry Based On Fuzzy-DEMATEL Method

Ethiopia’s textile and apparel industry is the key field for China’s textile enterprises to invest abroad,and it is also the pillar industry to promote Ethiopia’s national economic growth and realize its national industrialization.It is closely related to the three sustainable development dimensions of Ethiopia’s economy,society and ecology.In recent years,with the strong support of the Ethiopian government,the textile and apparel industry has developed rapidly,but there is still a big gap from the expected goal of the Ethiopian government.Therefore,it is very important to analyze the factors that affect the sustainability of Ethiopia’s textile and apparel industry and eliminate the obstacles to the sustainable development of the industry for speeding up the industrialization process of Ethiopia and help China’s textile enterprises make foreign investment decisions.Most research on the sustainable development of the Ethiopia’s textile and apparel industry mainly focus on the ecological sustainability,and put forward corresponding improvement measures in view of the pollution status of the textile industry.It lacks considering of the industrial development problems that Ethiopia’s textile industry needs to solve at present,which is not conducive to the integration and allocation of limited industrial resources.Based on this,this paper conducted one to one in-depth interview with seven domestic and foreign experienced industry experts by means of semi-structured interviews,combined with literature research,and made in-depth analysis of the interview texts and literature research results based on the grounded theory,so as to identify and summarize the influencing factors of sustainable development of Ethiopia’s textile industry.Based on this,A survey questionnaire was designed in use of Fuzzy-DEMATEL,and 12 experts and scholars from home and abroad in Ethiopia’s textile and apparel industry were invited to rate the influence degree among the influencing factors.The collected data were quantitatively analyzed to identify the key influencing factors,and according to the identified key influencing factors,the sustainable development countermeasures of Ethiopia’s textile and apparel industry were exported.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:1)Based on the text mining technology,the text mining of semi-structured in-depth interviews of industry experts and the research results of existing journal documents is carried out by using grounded theory method,and 15 influencing factors of the current sustainable development of Ethiopia’s textile and apparel industry are identified,including policy guidance and support,waste of resources,endogenous motivation,protection of investors’ rights and interests,skilled personnel,etc.From the specific sources of the factors,it can be seen that the sustainable development of Ethiopia’s textile and apparel industry is influenced by factors from the enterprise,industry and government level,and the problem of sustainable development of Ethiopia’s textile and apparel industry should be solved.2)Using Fuzzy-DEMATEL method,quantitative analysis is made on 15 influencing factors identified by grounded theory method.By comprehensively comparing the influence degree,affected degree,center degree and cause degree of each influencing factor,it is found that among the factors affecting the sustainable development of Ethiopia’s textile industry,the key influencing factor at the enterprise level is labor productivity,the government level is policy guidance and support,ruling ability and service level,and the industry level is endogenous power and infrastructure.Among the government factors,the degree of centrality and cause of policy guidance and support is the highest.Therefore,the Ethiopian government needs to focus on the implementation of relevant industrial policies when planning the sustainable development of textile and apparel industry.3)According to the quantitative analysis results of key influencing factors,combined with the index system of influencing factors,the countermeasures for sustainable development of Ethiopia’s textile and apparel industry are put forward around the key influencing factors of enterprises,industries and governments.Textile enterprises should carry out corresponding system reform around improving workers’ labor productivity,including paying attention to staff training,improving their own innovative ability and giving full play to the guiding role of managers at all levels in enterprises;The endogenous motivation of the sustainable development of the textile industry can be stimulated from two aspects: ideological cultivation and guidance,and material incentives.The improvement of infrastructure can be led by the construction of industrial parks,and gradually promoted from point to point.In addition,in view of the outstanding achievements of Sino-Egyptian cooperation under the background of "the belt and road initiative" and China’s leading position in the field of infrastructure,the Ethiopian government can continuously strengthen the in-depth cooperation with China in infrastructure projects.In order to promote the sustainable development of textile and apparel industry,the Ethiopian government should provide corresponding policies and financial support,and strengthen its own ideological and professional capacity building to ensure the steady implementation of a series of policies.
