| Against the dual background of rapid socio-economic development and educational system reform, the construction mode of university campuses has also undergone many new changes.Campus is no longer just a place for teaching and academic exchange, but also provides necessary outdoor space for teacher-student interaction activities. However, nowadays, most universities rely on the main building in the construction of outdoor communication spaces, neglecting the overall attention to the communication space system, which has led to problems such as low quality and insufficient attractiveness of communication spaces, posing certain obstacles to university communication and cultural exchange. This article is based on the current situation of insufficient attractiveness of outdoor communication spaces in universities.Based on the above background, this article starts from the behavioral psychology of college students, and through theoretical research and field research analysis, aims to explore the relationship between college students’ behavioral activities and the external spatial environment of the campus. This article is divided into three parts. The first part mainly introduces the background, purpose, and significance of this study, summarizes the current research status at home and abroad, and explains the research content and framework of this article. The second part mainly studies the behavioral types, characteristics, and psychological needs of college students, and determines the research ideas and specific methods for implementation based on communication and space, environmental behavior, and time geography. The third part conducts on-site research on the outdoor communication space of East China Normal University, the research object of this article.GPS monitoring of student behavior trajectory is combined with GIS visualization to focus on analyzing the relationship between students’ behavior activities and space, and to summarize the spatiotemporal patterns of college students’ outdoor activities. Then, conduct a satisfaction evaluation analysis on the specific communication space usage, propose design optimization strategies suitable for outdoor communication spaces on university campuses, and apply them to specific practices. This article takes behavioral analysis as the starting point. In response to the situation where previous research on campus space has mostly focused on overall planning and architectural aspects, this article combines objective behavioral characteristics with subjective usage perception to supplement the theoretical research on outdoor communication space on university campuses at the macro level. At the individual level,it also reveals students’ behavior and needs in actual campus use.By providing design strategies for the current construction of campus communication spaces, responding to macro planning and individual usage needs with space as the answer,we aim to create more communication possibilities for students and ultimately create a vibrant campus space. |
