| Research related to sustainable product design has become one of the hottest research topics in the field of design.Scholars have already had insightful discussions around sustainable product design approaches and have emphasized the importance of sustainable product experiences.However,there are no specific design strategies or methods to guide designers to carry out design practices to enhance the sustainable positive experiences of products(services)to users.This study will try to propose various design strategies for enriching and extending the positive experience cycle of products and services with the purpose of increasing users’ additional experience of products(services)or strengthening the existing positive experience,so as to facilitate designers’ practical work of design and enrich the positive experience cycle of products.The main research of this paper includes:Purpose: The first is to build design strategies to enrich the positive experience cycle of products;the second is to design "health" themed products and "new technology empowered old objects" furniture products based on design strategies to enrich the positive experience cycle of products;the third is to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of design strategies for positive product experience cycles.Methods: First,literature research was utilized to define the elements affecting the positive experience cycle.Second,100 product(service)design samples were collected by applying the desktop research method.5 designers participated in the selection of 50 product samples that achieved the purpose of enriching the positive product experience cycle.Third,using the focus group method,eight designers analyzed in what ways each product sample enriched the positive experience cycle of users.Fourth,14 design strategies were extracted for enriching the positive experience cycle of the product based on the positive experience cycle visualization chart and the GIOIA purification method.Fifth,the workshop design practice outputted 27 smart health products,and the professional designer practice outputted a design that enriched the positive experience cycle of furniture products.Sixth,product prototypes were evaluated by PAD emotion measurement method.Conclusion: Theoretical aspect: a set of 14 design strategies for positive product experience cycle is constructed,which are: anticipation(1.scenario substitution,2.visual expectation,3.functional traction),activities(4.clear use,5.real-time interaction,6.multipurpose situation,7.sustainable experience,8.immersed experience,9.emotional construction),assessment(10.fluency experience,11.satisfaction validity),and impact(12.short-term contribution,13.medium-term change,14.long-term effect).Practice aspect: 27 design concepts with the theme of "health" and one furniture product with the theme of "new technology empowers old objects" were created by applying these 14 design strategies.The significance of this paper: This study focuses on sustainable positive experiences of products(services)and proposed 14 design strategies for enriching positive experience cycles to help designers effectively generate design concepts that enrich the positive user experience.On this basis,by empowering old furniture with new technologies,designers extend the positive experience cycle of old furniture products and enhance the sustainable subjective happiness of users. |
