| With the rapid growth of the urbanization process and the rapid growth of population base,"city disease" appears widely in the process of the development of big cities,especially in the old urban districts and historic districts with a long history.In recent decades,the state has promulgated relevant laws and regulations to protect historical blocks,experts and units at all levels also have conducted in-depth research on the renewal of historic blocks,the old cities renewal and reconstruction carried out with an unprecedented scale and speed.However,it is inevitable that a large number of historic districts have been renovated with over-commercialization benefits at the expense of cultural heritage,resulting in problems such as over-commercialization and ageing population,which have caused great harm to the historic environment and the spirit of place in the city.Therefore,it is necessary to find a revitalisation strategy that coordinate physical regeneration with historical and cultural heritage for the current situation of historic district conservation in China.Based on the perspective of refinement,this paper makes an in-depth study of relevant urban design theories,summarises a variety of refinement urban design methods and tools of fine urban design covering urban and rural planning,architecture,geography,statistics and sociology,and explores the revitalisation strategies that can be applied to historic districts.This paper takes Rongxiang historic district in Wuxi as the research object.In the early stage,the traditional urban design methods such as in-depth field research and data review are combined with urban design methods with a refined perspective to analyse the built environment,functional zoning and social culture of the area in a comprehensive and precise manner.In the mid-stage,relevant design tools are used to refine the design of the area,taking into account the needs of the residents and the current situation of the area,and combining the data analysed.Public space is optimised,buildings are repaired,industries are renewed,and culture is passed on to maximise the spatial quality of the historic quarter and improve the vitality of residents’ lives.Finally,the experience of Rongxiang Optimisation Design is summarised,which also hopes to provide reference and assistance to the revitalisation of similar historic districts,so that it can have practical significance. |
