As one of the important spaces to cultivate rural children ’s reading interest,the rural children ’s library provides an important guarantee for promoting the development of rural children ’s education.At present,the development of rural children ’s libraries is facing great difficulties: lack of theoretical guidance in design,few relevant design studies,uneven construction,neglect of children ’s physical and mental development laws,and single spatial structure,which cannot meet the basic reading needs of rural children.Therefore,it is of great significance to build a library that conforms to the use habits of rural children,meets the psychological expectations of rural children,and stimulates the reading interest of rural children.Guided by the psychology of children ’s development,this paper summarizes the design principles of rural children ’s libraries : safety,functionality,interest and regionality by combing the theoretical overview of children ’s development psychology and analyzing relevant excellent cases,and explores the design methods of rural children’s libraries : mastering children ’s psychological division of functional space,according to the main needs,creating a space environment,and integrating regional elements to create regional characteristics.Finally,the Xiguan Village Children ’s Library in Jinzhou City,Shijiazhuang City,Hebei Province was selected as the design object for practical exploration.After investigating the basic situation and users of Xiguan Village Children ’s Library,the author combines the previous research basis and integrates the local characteristics of Xiguan Village to design a new reading space with reasonable spatial layout,various functional forms,smooth traffic flow,environmental protection and safety of materials,which can meet the reading needs of children of different ages in Xiguan Village and enhance their reading interest.In the design of Xiguan Village Children ’s Library,the theory of children ’s development psychology is integrated,the psychological development characteristics of children are fully considered,and children are guaranteed to be the masters of space.A new design form is explored,which provides a reference for the design practice of rural children ’s library in the future.
