Children are the future of the society,carrying the hope of the society,children’s education has been the focus of social attention.With the rapid development of China’s cultural undertakings,the needs of children and their parents for libraries are gradually becoming professional and systematic.The functions of children’s areas in traditional public libraries can no longer meet the needs of children readers and their parents for reading activities.At the beginning of the design,the traditional library considers the use of the majority of social groups,so it is not suitable for children in many aspects such as spatial form,environmental atmosphere and reading mode.After the promulgation and implementation of policies and regulations such as "three-child policy" and "burden reduction",the social demand for professional facilities for children has also increased significantly.Reading is one of the main means for children to acquire knowledge and understand the world.The construction of library carrying reading function will have an important impact on the process of children to understand the world through reading.The library in line with children’s expectations can not only stimulate children’s interest in reading,but also an important help on the road of children’s growth.Therefore,the construction of professional children’s library is of great significance.Environmental psychology is a subject that studies the interaction between environment and human psychology and behavior.In this paper,from the Angle of environmental psychology,to the children’s library as the research object,always begins with consideration of the children in the process,through the theoretical study of sums up the psychological characteristics of children’s library users,behavior characteristics and different age paragraph the needs of children,comprehensive analysis of the design of children library interior space.The main part of this paper consists of five chapters.First chapter is the introduction part,a total of three,the first section,through the analysis of the current social background,summarizes the significance of this topic,the second quarter by studying the development history of children’s library at home and abroad and the present situation analysis,summarizes the current problems existing in the development of children library,for later development stage,the third section explains the purpose of this study and innovation points.The second chapter is the general situation of children’s library in China,and through the comparative study of the general library and children’s library,find the differences between the general library and children’s library,further prove the importance of children’s library.Chapter three explores the role and importance of environmental psychology theory in the spatial design of children’s library through the research of environmental psychology theory,which provides theoretical basis for the development of the following article.Chapter four discusses the factors that should be paid attention to in the design of children’s library space from three aspects: children’s psychological characteristics,use needs and factors that affect users.Chapter five discusses the key points of space design based on three elements of environmental psychology theory.Through the above research,this paper takes the space design of children’s library as the main research content,summarizes the design principles that meet the psychological expectations of children and meet the needs of children.Combining with the theory of environmental psychology,humanistic care is embodied in the design of children’s library,which provides reference for the design of children’s library interior space in the future.
