A Study On The Morphological And Technological Evolution Of The Detailing Of Modern Courtyard Buildings In Qingdao And Its Conservation And Control Strategies

Qingdao Liyuan is an integral part of the formation and development of the modern city of Qingdao.It bears the historical marks of the Chinese merchants and laborers who worked,started and grew up in Qingdao since 1898 and through all periods.The courtyard architecture is typologically significant as a specific commercial and residential(and to a lesser extent residential)building type,associated with important historical figures and events,and with special artistic value for its East-meets-West architectural elements.The details of the courtyard buildings are a reflection of the architects’ design ideas and an important way to tell the inner connection between materials,structures and forms.It is of great importance for the study of architectural ideas of modern Qingdao architects,the conservation and reuse of liyard buildings,and the study of detailing characteristics of modern historical buildings in Qingdao,but most of the studies on liyard buildings are from a macroscopic point of view,with less research on detailing.Nowadays,most of the courtyard buildings are listed as historical buildings and traditional style buildings,which need to be protected,repaired and reused.This paper attempts to grasp a new research perspective on the details of Qingdao modern courtyard architecture,taking the existing courtyard buildings in Qingdao as the research object.By collecting historical data related to the research topic,such as drawings and photos,we analyze the motives that influence the development and evolution of the details of the courtyard buildings in terms of natural environment,culture,population,policies and regulations;we survey and count the current situation of the details of the existing courtyard buildings and take a large number of photos of the details;we conduct a detailed study and analysis of the details of the courtyard buildings in each period of Qingdao’s modern era and summarize their evolution process;finally,we Finally,we discuss the measures of using and restoring the value elements of the architectural details in the conservation and renewal process of Qingdao modern courtyard buildings,inherit the unique cultural elements of the western part of the courtyard buildings,and propose a new outlook on the conservation and renewal of the courtyard buildings.
