Effect Of Alfalfa Meal On Growth Performance,Meat Quality And Serum Biochemical Indexes Of Hetian Black Chicken

The experiment was to study the effect of adding alfalfa meal in the diet on the production performance,meat quality and antioxidant ability of Hetian black chicken.400 7-week-old Hetian black chicken were randomly divided into five groups with five replicates per group,and 16 chicken per replicate.The trials were 7-14 weeks old and 15-18 weeks old,chicken in control group were fed with basal diet,and chicken in trial group Ⅰ,group Ⅱ,group Ⅲ and group Ⅳ were fed with trial diets supplemented with 2%,4%,6% and 8% of alfalfa meal.The trial period was 77 d with 7 d of pre-trial period and 70 d of formal trial period.The results of the test show that:(1)Compared with control group,18-weeks-old the weight,7-18 weeks old the average daily gain of trial group Ⅱ was significantly increased(P<0.05),and 7-14 weeks old the average daily feed intake of trial group Ⅲ and group Ⅳ was significantly increased(P<0.05),and 15-18 weeks old,7-18 weeks old the average daily feed intake were extremely higher(P<0.01),and 18-weeks-old the weight,7-14 weeks old the average daily gain was significantly decreased(P<0.05).(2)Compared with control group,slaughter rate of trial group Ⅱ was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the breast muscle rate were extremely significantly(P<0.01).Compared with the control group,percentage of abdominal fat rate and slaughter weight of trial group Ⅲ was significantly decreased(P<0.05),and percentage of abdominal fat rate and slaughter weight of trial group Ⅳ were extremely significantly decreased(P<0.01).Other measures of slaughter performance was not significantly different when compared to the control group(P>0.05).(3)Compared with control group,the breast muscle and leg muscle meat color of 45 min of trial group Ⅳ was significantly increased(P<0.05),and leg muscle shear force was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Compared with control group,the was no significant difference in other indexes of meat quality(P>0.05).(4)Compared with control group,serum superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase activity of trial group Ⅲ and group Ⅳ were extremely significantly increased(P<0.01),and the superoxide dismutase of trial group Ⅱ were extremely significantly higher(P<0.01),and the glutathione peroxidase of trial group Ⅱ was significantly higher than that of control group(P<0.05).Compared with control group,serum malondialdehyde content of trial group Ⅲ and group Ⅳ was significantly decreased(P<0.05).(5)Compared with control group,the serum total protein content was significantly increased(P<0.05),and serum triglyceride content was significantly decreased(P<0.05).The experiment indicates that 4% alfalfa meal has the best effect on breeding of Hetian black chicken.
