It is generally known that polyphone characters are characters with many pronunciations and meanings.Polyphone brought great trouble to the non-native speaker of Chinese learners for its complex rules of usage.This paper based on Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language,carries comprehensive study on polyphone characters in syllabus and exam outline.Firstly,analyze and summarize the feature of polyphone characters.Secondly,investigates the grasp of polyphone characters for different Chinese learners in the form of questionnaire survey and try to find the difficult points through error analysis.Combine the interview content and her own teaching experience,the author has proposed several teaching suggestions in TCFL.On the basis of existing study achievement,this paper filtered polyphone characters through “International Chinese Teaching Universal and Curriculum” and“HSK Vocabulary” from angles of learning levels,frequency of usage,teaching and testings.Meanwhile,the author also investigates the student’s acquisition and try to find the difficult points by the means of error analysis through questionnaire survey and data analysis.In the end,this paper put forwards some teaching methods relating to polyphone characters.We find that frequency,phonetic laws and the combination of meaning and pronunciation are key factors of learning polyphone characters.Native language background and Chinese level also have a considerable impact on polyphone learning.We hold the opinion that teachers can take full advantage of the situational approach,contrast method,contact method and so on to help students remember polyphone characters quickly;In the review stage,there should be more teacher-student interaction and more student-student interaction;We should try to design more abundant and comprehensive exercises to fit the needs of reliability and validity.
