| In the translation report, communicative translation theory is chosen as the guiding theory of translation.Communicative translation helps translators to achieve translation which would produce the same contextual effect to the readers as that to the original readers,to ensure that the translation can accurately convey the information of the source text, and to make the translation acceptable to the readers both in terms of content and linguistic form. The source text is an informative text with typical characteristics. The author analyzes the translation at three different levels: lexical, syntactic and discourse, guided by communicative translation theory. At the lexical level, the source text contains a large number of technical terms and semi-technical terms.Semi-technical terms often have different translations in different fields, which requires the author to select translations according to the chemical industry in order to ensure the accuracy of the translations. At the syntactic level, there are many passive sentences, long sentences, and sentences with nominalization in the source text.In the translation process, attention should be paid to the differences in language habits and expressions between Chinese and English, and translation strategies and means such as omission, addition and order adjustment should be used to make the translation more consistent with the expressing habits of the target language and accurately convey the information of the source text.At the discourse level, since English is a morphological language and Chinese is an ideographic language, there are differences and similarities in the expression of logical relations between them. Therefore, the author flexibly uses the explicit and implicit of logical words. This translation report mainly studies the English-Chinese translation of informative texts under the guidance of communicative translation theory,in order to provide reference for the translation of similar texts in the future. |
