Investigation And Research On The Display And Exhibition Of Luoyang Archaeological Site Museum

At present,China’s economic and culture are developing rapidly,the government pays great attention to the development of cultural heritage business.New requirements have been made for archaeological excavation at all types of sites.One of the main directions of cultural heritage conservation today is to establish archaeological site museums for archaeological sites’ conservation and utilization.The archaeological site museum is an important platform for inheriting and disseminating relic cultural information.Display exhibition,as a window for the dialogue between the archaeological site museum and the public,is the main way for the museum to fulfil its social function.For the past few years,benefiting from the rapid development of China’s archaeological site museums,innovative practices in display and presentation have shown remarkable results.With the theoretical research on display exhibitions in archaeological site museums is gradually maturing,the weakness of our theoretical construction of exhibitions in archaeological site museums has been improved.As a time-honored city with cultural roots,Luoyang,which Located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River,has a large number of archaeological sites and multiple archaeological site museums.These museums of the Luoyang region are great representatives of the exhibition research.In this paper,the archaeological site museums in Luoyang are selected as research objects.By investigating the overview of the Luoyang’s archaeological site museums,the overall concept of archaeological sites and the construction policy of the archaeological site museum are properly studied.Through field visits and random interviews with visitors,research and analysis of the exhibition conditions of each museum are conducted and the common problems are summarized.Nowadays,Luoyang’s archaeological site museums generally suffer from problems including lack of sites’ ornamentation,no storytelling of monotonous displays and exhibitions,an emphasis on display rather than conservation and few interactive ways with the public.These drawbacks are targeted analyzed and suggestions for improvement are made individually for each museum.In addition,this paper takes the current situation of display exhibition in Luoyang’s site museums as a representative,based on an understanding of current trends in the development of display exhibition,combining with the current historical background of China and the needs of the public,presenting five future directions of archaeological site museums’ display exhibition: use flexible and modern exhibition techniques;emphasis on cultural information transfer and presentation;enhancing the attractiveness of the exhibition and appealing to visitors;Pay more attention to temporary exhibitions and make the most of them;introducing internet technology in museums and carrying out "cloud exhibitions".
