| This Report is based on the E-C translation of the Canada 2022 Energy Policy Review, which is a report on Canada’s energy policy published by the International Energy Agency(IEA)on January,2022.The IEA report is divided into three parts: Energy Insights,Energy Transition and Energy Security. The Translator translates the first part for the translation task. The translation is done with the help of computer-aided translation tools such as Trados Studio 2021,Multiterm 2021 Desk Top and Deep L.This Report analyzes and summarizes the typical issues in the translation process in the context of specific cases. This Report is divided into five chapters. The first Chapter is an overview, introducing the content and features of the source text and the requirements for the translation task.Chapter 2describes the translation process, including pre-translation,machine translation post-editing(MTPE),translation export, etc. The Translator revises and polishes the translation generated by Deep L,a quality online machine translation system, and make the translation correct and consistent with Chinese expression patterns. The Translator uses tools such as Xbench to ensure the quality of the translation.Chapter 3 is about case analysis, which focuses on the multi-modifiers formed by attributive clauses in the task and concludes three types of treatments, namely, translation as pre-modifier,translation as clause, and fusion into sentence. If an attributive clause is short and has a strong restriction on its antecedent, the clause can be translated as a pre-modifier.If an attributive clause is relatively long and has a weak restriction on its antecedent,it can be translated as a clause in Chinese. If an attributive clause provides information that is closely related to the main clause,it can be fused into the translation of the main clause and form a sentence in the Chinese translation.Chapter 4 is MTPE(machine translation post-editing)reflections.It contrasts the use of the Chinese prepositions “向”(xiang)and “为”(wei)and points out some machine translation inappropriateness: mistranslation of punctuations, mistranslation of nouns that express quantity, and mistranslation caused by improper segmentation.Chapter 5 concludes this Report. This Report is of significance for EST translation teaching and practice. However,it is inevitably limited as it is only based on the cases in the translation task. |
