This report presents a comprehensive review of the author’s interpreting experiences gained from a series of cultural exchange events in 2022.The primary objective of these events was to explore the rich cultural heritage of the Song Dynasty and actively contribute to the promotion of Chinese culture.During the events,the keynote teacher provided a panoramic overview of the event’s theme and facilitated hands-on experiences for the participants.Through the in-depth explanation and demonstration of the keynote teachers,these events have made tangible results in immersing foreign friends thoroughly in the cultural atmosphere.As the designated interpreter,the author played a crucial role in facilitating comprehension of the speeches for foreign friends.The main difficulties and challenges the author encountered during the interpreting process was that these events entail numerous interpreting of traditional cultural elements,which made the interpreting process much more strenuous than the author previously anticipated.The primary aim of this report is to analyze interpreted texts in a multidimensional manner within the framework of Chesterman’s models of translation ethics,and to delve into practical techniques and methods to produce interpreted texts that meet the requirements of translation ethics.From the perspectives of ethics of representation,norm-based ethics,ethics of service,ethics of communication and ethics of commitment,this report will analyze the application of the models of translation ethics in interpreting practice,using multiple case studies drawn from the author’s interpreting practice.The report will reflect on the author’s own experiences during the interpreting practice,summarizing effective interpreting strategies and potential applications of Chesterman’s theory,with a view to providing valuable insights for other interpreters and promoting the long-term development of the interpreting field. |
