With the advent of the digital age,museums have launched online services,opening up new paths for Chinese culture globalization.Meanwhile,many scholars have adopted the parallel text comparison model for translation studies between Chinese and English in order to optimize translations to attract foreign readers,but few studies have been conducted to compare English translations of Chinese museums with foreign English texts.As a result,this dissertation will summarize features of museum texts through the parallel text comparison model of Chinese and English.This thesis chooses Chinese and English texts of jade description as the subject of this thesis,and extracts some jade description from collected texts from the Palace Museum,the Shanghai Museum,and the British Museum.In order to understand foreign visitors’ receptive vocabulary,thinking and reading habits,and cultural knowledge,texts are be analyzed from lexical level,syntactic level and textual level in the parallel text mode.It can found from the study,at the lexical level,both texts adopt similar techniques and words.At the syntactic level,both use similar sentence patterns,but messages are expressed in different ways.At the textual level,the English translation of the jade description is more practical,concise.While the English translation of the Chinese museum’s combining the English text with Chinese cultural features. |
