Translation Practice Report On 2019-2033 Defense Science & Technology Promotion Policy (Excerpt) Of Functional Translation Theory

As the world security environment has changed since the 21 st century,the development of science and technology has become another key factor affecting national security.In recent years,the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea has put forward a series of reform programs,especially increasing various investments in and giving strong support to the development of defense science and technology.The author selects Chapter 1 to Chapter 7 of the2019-2033 Defense Science and Technology Revitalization Policy released in June 2019 in the official website of the Korean Ministry of National Defense as the object of translation practice.The policy file by the Korea Presidential Advisory Council on Science and Technology(PACST)approval,and its main contents include medium-term and long-term policies and technology development strategies for revitalizing Korea’s defense science and technology,proposing to raise Korea’s defense science and technology strength to the world’s advanced level and contribute to the "advanced and strong military" and "creation of economy".It also sets out the specific guidelines for the defense science and technology promotion program policy.The original text is an informational text with plain language,clear theme and emphasis on the original information.According to the characteristics of the translation of informational text,the author chooses the informational text theory and Skopos theory in the functional translation theory as the theoretical guidance of the translation practice.The Translation practice report consists of five chapters.Chapter 1 is the introduction,which mainly introduces the research background,text content,research purpose and research significance.Chapter 2 introduces the text type theory and Skopos theory in functional translation theory,and puts forward that the text type theory is the guiding principle and skopos theory is the translation strategy,and the combination of the two guides the translation practice.Chapter 3 introduces the translation practice,including three stages: pre-translation preparation,translation process and post-translation proofreading.Chapter 4 is a case study.Under the guidance of text type theory and Skopos theory,it proposes the use of literal translation,literal translation + annotation,free translation and other methods for lexical translation.The methods of sentence translation are involved from two aspects: the change of sentence components and the change of sentence number.The change of sentence components includes the increase and decrease of sentence components and the order adjustment.The change of sentence number is mainly manifested as the phenomenon of dividing one sentence into two clauses.This paper discusses the translation methods of text from two aspects: ellipsis in semantic cohesion and the same sentence pattern in structural cohesion.Chapter 5 is the conclusion,which summarizes the translation methods,problems,achievements and reflections in this translation practice.Translation practice will help us to understand the development trend of defense science and technology in Korea and provide reference for the development of defense science and technology in China Under the guidance of the text type theory and Skopos theory of functional translation theory,the translation practice flexibly uses a variety of translation methods to solve the problems encountered in the process of translating policy documents into words,sentences and texts,which can one of the information-oriented texts,in the future provide a certain reference for the Korean-Chinese translation of policy documents.
