A Report On The Interpreting For “2022 Leisure Excursion And Suggestions Activity”

The introduction of advanced foreign technology and talents is an important part of the work related to the construction of talents in Hebei Province,which takes an important position in its economic construction and development.On June 15^th,2022,the Hebei Provincial Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs held the“Leisure Excursion and Suggestions Activity”for the foreign experts working in Hebei,to which the author offered interpreting service.This event contains two parts:the first is an offline meeting,and the second is a tour of scenic locations.The offline meeting covers the speeches of the leaders of the Hebei Provincial Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs,which express cares to the experts working in Hebei and the experts’thoughts on the development of Hebei.The scenic locations are the Rongguo Mansion in Zhengding County and the Perfect Ranch of Junlebao in Luquan District,which aims to help the experts gain a deeper understanding of the local customs of Hebei.Based on the challenges encountered by the author in this interpreting practice,such as culture-loaded words,redundant expressions and illogicality,this report discusses the interpreting tactics of addition,omission,restructuring and paraphrasing adopted by the author from the perspective of interpretive theory,and points out the unresolved problems,such as insufficient vocabulary preparation and lack of background knowledge.Through this practice,the author has realized that the importance of pre-interpreting preparations and knowledge accumulation to interpreting,and is determined to strengthen practice in the future to expand her knowledge reserve and improve her interpreting level.
