| Chinese teachers,as practitioners of international Chinese teaching,are faced with many practical difficulties in the teaching process.The image problem of Chinese teachers is related to the personal development and the teaching efficiency of teachers,which cannot be ignored in the process of international Chinese teaching practice.In order to explore the teacher image preference of adult Chinese learners,this paper adopts the method of questionnaire survey to explore the teacher image preference of adult Chinese learners,in order to provide practical help for first-line Chinese teachers.This study is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction,which mainly includes the research background and significance,research review,core concept and related concept discrimination and research methods.The second part is the design of teacher image preference survey for adult Chinese learners,including the definition of the survey object,the design of the questionnaire,the implementation of the questionnaire and the analysis of background information.The third part is the analysis of questionnaire survey results.The results include the following four aspects.External characteristics of teachers: The most popular Chinese teachers among adult Chinese learners are 26-35 years old;Most adult Chinese learners like Chinese teachers to wear brightly colored clothes in class.Teachers’ nonverbal behavior: Most adult Chinese learners think that Chinese teachers should always smile in class,like Chinese teachers to express their emotions through facial expressions in class,think Chinese teachers can express their dissatisfaction with students through facial expressions in class,and like Chinese teachers to use more body movements in class.Most adult Chinese learners can accept the occasional indecent behavior of Chinese teachers in class.Teachers’ language behavior: most adult Chinese learners think that Chinese teachers should often say some words of praise and encouragement to students,think that Chinese teachers should point out students’ mistakes and shortcomings immediately in class,and like Chinese teachers to make some lively jokes in class.Students’ overall expectation and personal tendency towards teacher image: Chinese learners attach more importance to the ability of Chinese teachers between the ability of Chinese teachers and the personality and attitude of teachers.Most adult Chinese learners expect Chinese teachers to treat them as friends,and believe that Chinese teachers should adjust their images and behaviors according to the different cultural backgrounds and preferences of the students they teach.The image characteristics of a good Chinese teacher in the mind of learners are: gentle and easygoing,the lecture is clear and easy to understand,kind and friendly,care for and help students,patient,strong professional ability,enthusiastic and lively,helpful to students’ learning,humorous and strict.The fourth part analyzes the differences of teacher image preference among different types of adult Chinese learners.The gender difference is mainly manifested in the external characteristics of Chinese teachers;The age difference was mainly manifested in non-verbal behavior.The difference of Chinese level is mainly manifested in language behavior,non-language behavior,overall expectation,and personal inclination of the students.Regional differences are mainly manifested in the external characteristics,non-verbal behaviors,overall expectations,and personal tendencies of the students.The fifth part is the revelation based on the analysis of teacher image preference of adult Chinese learners.The enlightenment of teacher’s image building and performance is as follows: keep the appearance natural and neat;Show your true feelings appropriately;Pay attention to language content and tone variation;Understanding differences and needs;Get rid of the "stereotyped" effect;Strengthen the leading role.The enlightenments of acceptance for adult Chinese learners are as follows: abandon negative bias;Full trust and communication.The sixth part is the conclusion.Firstly,this paper summarizes the research,points out the innovation points of the research,and then reflects on the shortcomings of this research. |
