For a long time, scholars have mainly focused on Zheng Zhenduo’s academic research, while relatively neglecting interdisciplinary research. This article attempts to look at Zheng Zhenduo from a different perspective, paying special attention to the impact of his artistic activities on his literary research. On the basis of previous studies, the author comprehensively and meticulously organized Zheng Zhenduo’s art activities and attempted to construct his art activity space.Overall,Zheng Zhenduo’s art activities generally include purchasing and collecting art works and books, publishing art books, participating in or holding art exhibitions, publishing art reviews, creating children’s picture stories, engaging in cultural relic protection work, and interacting with artists.Zheng Zhenduo’s art activities not only provided visual historical materials for his research on Chinese literature, but also inspired him to reconsider Chinese literature.Zheng Zhenduo attaches great importance to the cognitive value of literary image historical materials. He believes that image historical materials can return to history and understand the literary landscape of the past. Therefore,he combined his purchased and collected art works with the study of Chinese literary history, forming a new model of "using pictures to prove history" and "interacting with historical images",providing a new path for the study of Chinese literary history.Zheng Zhenduo saw from the ancient illustrated book "The Plum in the Golden Vase" the daily life state of people towards "enjoyment" and "love for beauty" in the real society at that time, which subsequently influenced his research on "daily life" in ancient novels.Zheng Zhenduo has collected various illustrations of the Western Chamber, from which he not only feels the artistic conception of ’self made’,but also discovers the awakening of ’personal’ consciousness.Feeling the awakening of individual consciousness in printmaking influenced his thinking about "people" in the drama publication of "The Story of the Western Chamber".Zheng Zhenduo’s love for Soviet prints and Indian Buddhist art influenced his research on Soviet and Indian literature.Zheng Zhenduo experienced "authenticity" and "tragedy" in Soviet printmaking, which made him pay attention to the "revolutionary" in Soviet literature and further influenced his literary proposition of "blood and tears".In Indian Buddhist art,Zheng Zhenduo felt the aesthetic style of "love" and "beauty",which subsequently influenced his contemplation of the ideal world of harmony and unity among humans, nature, and the world in Indian literature.Revolutionary awakening awakens individual emotions and makes people the’existence of action’,while ’love and beauty’ repairs relationships between people and facilitates the establishment of an ideal world. In Zheng Zhenduo’s view, the integration of "blood and tears" and "love and beauty" is an ideal way to truly achieve a unified combination of "national salvation" and "enlightenment" and finally lead to cosmopolitanism.Zheng Zhenduo’s art activities not only influenced his concept of children’s literature, but also influenced his research practice in children’s literature.Zheng Zhenduo not only found a local spiritual source for his literary concept of "child centered" through his observation of ancient Chinese "baby play painting",translation and introduction of Western children’s picture books, and interaction with children’s artists, but also discovered the "third world",thus influencing the construction of Zheng Zhenduo’s "child centered" concept with art as the main focus.Under the influence of art activities and children’s literary concepts,Zheng Zhenduo defined "children" and "childhood" as broad concepts."Children" are no longer limited to children, but also include young people and adults with a "childlike innocence".Zheng Zhenduo encouraged children and youth to have a "childlike dream" of the future through "the construction of pictures and childhood",and also encouraged them to base themselves on reality, grow up in resistance to despair, and ultimately take on the responsibility of transforming society. |
