A Report On E-C Translation Of Attributive Clauses In The Potential Of Zero-Carbon Bunker Fuels In Developing Countries (Excerpts)

Attributive clauses play an important role in the sentence structure of the English language.In many cases,multiple attributive clauses or even the simultaneous occurrence of attributive and adverbial clauses can be found in one paragraph of maritime text,which makes the sentence structure more intricate.Therefore,in order to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of the original text,the translation of attributive clauses in maritime text is particularly important.The first volume of the World Bank Report The Potential of Zero-Carbon Bunker Fuels in Developing Countries released by the World Bank in September 2021 analyzes the technology maturity and availability of various zero-carbon bunker fuels in developing countries and looks for zero-carbon fuels that could make a significant contribution to the decarbonization of shipping.Based on Nida’s functional equivalence theory,this translation report focuses on translation of attributive clauses in The Potential of Zero-Carbon Bunker Fuels in Developing Countries,and concludes that the translation methods of combination,division,and conversion are used,among which combination is divided into antecedent combination and subject-predicate combination,and division is divided into descriptive division,follow-up division,and complementary division.It is hoped that this report is conducive to the translation of attributive clauses in maritime texts.
