A Report On Translation Of Conditions And Requirements For The Technical Feasibility Of A Power System With A High Share Of Renewables In France Towards 2050

This Report is based on the translation of the IEA report-Conditions and Requirements for the Technical Feasibility of a Power System with a High Share of Renewables in France Towards 2050,which was published in 2021,analyzing several scenarios of a high share of renewable energy in the French electricity system and examining the conditions and the requirements for the technical feasibility of a power system.The source text is of English for Science and Technology(EST).The Translator has translated the Executive Summary and Chapters 1,2 and 3 of the IEA report from English to Chinese.In the course of translation,it is found that noun-phrase constituents with a prepositional phrase as post-modifier appear in a large number and a variety of forms in the IEA report.This Report consists of five chapters.Chapter 1 is an overview of the translation task.Chapter 2 describes the translation process.Chapter 3 focuses on the case study and summary of the translation of noun-phrase constituents with a prepositional phrase as post-modifier.In the process of translation,syntactic analysis is used to identify the semantics and logics of various sentences,and then under the promise of conforming to Chinese expression patterns,translation techniques such as pre-positioning,conversion and division are used to make the translation accurately convey the semantic meanings.Chapter 4 concludes this Report.Through this translation practice,the Translator has gained a deeper understanding of EST texts and EST translation.This Report,though having some limitations,could serve as a reference and guide for future teaching and practice of EST translation.
