The source text is selected from the book entitled Popularity: A Bridge between Classical and Behavioral Finance. It consists of two parts: a preliminary introduction to Popularity theory and the explanation of market premiums and anomalies common to investors. As a breakthrough, the book fills a gap in current research and the translation of which will benefit financial researchers and practitioners in China. In the analysis of the source text, the features of it and the challenges encountered in the practice were summarized based on Newmark’s text typology. It was found that the source text is an informative text featuring abundant knowledge in finance, accurate and logical expression and the unique cultural background of its author. In translating such informative texts, according to Newmark,it is imperative to maintain the neutral and objective style, convey the facts involved and produce a target text that is readeroriented. To meet the above criteria, three aspects of challenges were encountered in the practice: a full comprehension of the relevant field knowledge should be achieved;the accurate and logical expression should be reproduced;the reading barriers caused by cultural differences should be reduced.Based on the above analysis,it is found by reviewing the literature that the “Comprehension,Expression, and Adaptation”(CEA)framework proposed by Li Changshuan and Lynette Shi could better solve the there challenges.Based on the framework, the relevant solutions were summarized. To achieve full comprehension, the background information and the context of the source text were analyzed;to achieve expressiveness, the accuracy and the logic of the text were reproduced through prudent wording and coherence;to achieve flexible adaptation, idioms were translated liberally and explanations were adding to zeroequivalent financial expressions.
