| Classroom management is the necessary guarantee for the correct implementation of teaching,and the classroom is the important place to achieve the goals of education and teaching.Classroom management should serve classroom teaching,and effective classroom teaching depends on scientific classroom management.However,new English teachers who have been employed for less than 5 years have some deficiencies in classroom management.In view of this,this study takes the classroom management of English teachers in a senior high school in Shandong Province as the starting point to explore the problems in their management.Questions need to be solved are as follows: first,what problems do new English teachers have in the physical environment in classroom management,classroom order,how to solve students’ problem behaviors,and how to cultivate students’ autonomous learning ability? Second,do the differences in sex,age,education background,teaching time and teaching grades have obvious impacts on their classroom management?Third,what strategies can we take to solve these problems?The study found that new English teachers have many problems in the four aspects of the research.New English teachers of high school have the biggest problem in cultivating students’ autonomous learning ability,followed by dealing with students’ problem behaviors,maintaining classroom order,and finally creating classroom physical environment.From the perspective of differences,female teachers are obviously better than male teachers in managing physical environment,classroom order,and cultivating students’ autonomous learning ability;teachers aged 25-28 perform better in physical environment management and classroom order.Teachers with postgraduate degrees in normal colleges perform better in managing classroom physical environment,classroom order,and dealing with students’ problem behaviors.Teachers with 3.6-5 years of teaching experience perform better in all dimensions of classroom management,followed by 2.6-3.5years,1-2.5 years,and finally less than one year.The research found that new English teachers have some problems in classroom management.First is physical environment management.For example,their classroom decoration lack English elements,and the seats of students are not properly adjusted according to the needs of English courses.Second is order management.There is a lack of rules and regulations.Besides,they have problems in discipline management.New English teachers pay little attention to students’ self-related problem behaviors,and simple mechanical methods are used to deal with the problems.The reason is that the new teachers of English in senior high school have misunderstanding of classroom management and ignore the management of classroom physical environment.Besides,the classroom rules is unscientific,and new teachers lack classroom management ability and authority.Therefore,this study put forward some solutions.First,new teachers should promote their cognition of classroom management and strengthen their awareness of physical environment management.Second,they are supposed to enhance the scientific level of classroom rules and improve their ability to manage classrooms.At last,new teachers should focus on establishing authority and other specific suggestions. |
