| If National Relics Tell is a hundred-episode documentary on historical relics,each episode introducing one national treasure,catering to people’s need to acquire knowledge in fragmented time,creating a new form of historical documentary and allowing more history and heritage enthusiasts and young people to quickly develop an interest.As a typical historical documentary in recent years,its subtitles are filled with cultural characteristics.Therefore,under the background of the new era,the discussion on subtitle translation of the documentary is of special significance and value.The subtitles of If National Relics Tell contain many sentences with flexible syntactical structures;the words used are short,concise and phonetic;at the same time,rhetorical questions and metaphors are used repeatedly,aiming to increase the interactivity between the national relics and the audience,and pass on the Chinese culture to the young generation.This thesis uses the Chinese subtitled text of the historical documentary If National Relics Tell as the corpus to analyze the inappropriate translation of sentence patterns,rhetoric and culturally loaded words in the existing translation work,retranslates it from three dimensions of Eco-translatology: linguistic adaptation,cultural adaptation and communicative adaptation.The comparative study finds that the translation guided by Eco-translatology could better convey the cultural and historical information of the documentary and obtain better communication effects.The report’s findings help to further improve the existing translation of If National Relics Tell and provide corresponding translation strategies for fellow translators in the process of C-E translation of historical documentaries. |
